Summit Entertainment is entering the comic-book adaptation business, picking up the movie rights to WildStorm/DC Comics' "Red," which revolves around a former CIA agent.

The project marks the first time that a DC Comics title is leaving parent company Time Warner's fold. Still, DC will remain an active participant in its adaptation.

The three-issue comic series, published in 2003, told the story of a former black-ops CIA agent now living a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his secret identity compromised and his love interest in danger, the man must reassemble his old team to figure out who is after them. The book was written by Warren Ellis.

Brothers Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber are writing the action film. Their adaptation involves the idea of an older operative who's set in his ways and must contend with younger and more fit agents as well as modern techniques and technology.

This sounds like an original take on the spy-fi genre that has refreshing ideas.

Yeah, right.

"Batman is only meaningful as an answer to a world which in its basics is chaotic and in the hands of the wrong people, where no justice can be found. I think it's very suitable to our perception of the world's condition today... Batman embodies the will to resist evil" -Frank Miller

"Conan, what's the meaning of life?"
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!"
-Conan the Barbarian

"Well, yeah."
-Jason E. Perkins

"If I had a dime for every time Pariah was right about something I'd owe twenty cents."
-Ultimate Jaburg53

"Fair enough. I defer to your expertise."
