I watched this the other night. Hadn't seen it it ten years or so. It's still a pretty good movie. The thing that surprised me is it didn't seem as brutal as it once did. I'm thinking that because of how often brutality is shown on the news it just doesn't seem that shocking anymore.

plus, brutal in 1987 doesn't hold up to the standard we're setting 20 years later.

still, awesome movie.

I loved it.

From looking at the Vietnam part of the film it's hard to believe it was filmed entirely in England.

Pretty much sums it up.
Its like Clockwork Orange or Death race 2000 which were banned for years, but when you watch them now days, you just cant understand why.

My dad likes FMJ right up until the point where they graduate boot camp and go to Vietnam. He says it's damn accurate up until that point.

Turns out that it was just a puppet show. The country of Vietnam doesn't even really exist; but since no one knows jack shit about Asian geography, the US government hasn't been called on it yet.

It's the only Kubrick film where I actually connect or care about any of the characters, I think that's why i find it his best.
