WBNG News
  • A new tax proposed by Governor David Paterson is a bit on the erotic side.

The Governor's initiative to impose a tax on music downloads and software also applies to pornography.

The state's Division of Budget has confirmed the tax would cover pornographic videos downloaded over the internet, or purchased through pay-per-view on television.

New York's Conservative Party says the proposal gives legitimacy to an industry that exploits men and women.

The sales tax would only apply to pornographers located in New York.

Out of state websites wouldn't collect from New Yorkers.

NY is also going to reinstitute a clothing tax which will presumably include socks, so rex is taking a double hit here.
