So no one went and saw TDK a second time in the theater? Got it.
I thought of that, and it was obviously a factor, but TDK had a larger per screen average too. That means there were more butts in the seats.

My dad didn't see Batman Begins until after he saw The Dark Knight in theaters. I'm sure he wasn't the only one....

Math IS a science. And while my calculations are, I admit, based on some speculation, they are clearly more accurate than Nowie's blanket statements that are provided without attribution.

Math IS a science. And while my calculations are, I admit, based on some speculation,
that indicates that it had more eyes at the first run theater, but not that it was seen by more people. many movies get an audience such as Mad Max on VHS, HBO ect, which leads to a larger theater gross for the sequel.
The Big Lebowski for instance is one of the most widely viewed Coehn bros. movies despite having one of the lowes tbox office totals of their films.

5 Things Comic Book Movies Need to Stop Doing:
Ignoring the source material.
These are iconic characters for a reason. Once they get changed enough they cease to be those characters. It becomes bait-and-switch.
Making editing decisions based on ratings rather than on quality of the finished product.
Some characters are family oriented, some are not. I can see where a Spider-Man, Fantastic Four,X-Men, or Hulk movies want to keep it family friendly, no problem.
Movies with the Punisher, or Wolverine solo films should be allowed to cater to an older audience.
Dark and gritty.
You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you are going to edit it for kids why does it have a dark tone to the film. Superman didn't come down from Krypton to give us the willies! He was a booster! Buddy Superman.
Killing actors.
They may be self centered, egotistical, shallow fuckers but every one of them has a mother!
No more incest!
Everybody in a comic book movie is direct blood relation. I blame George Lucas.

Lots of action and sci-fi/fantasy films are getting that. Die Hard With A Vengeance and the original AVP both come to mind.... Superman didn't come down from Krypton to give us the willies!
