Interesting. Some strange omissions, like Frank Miller, but overall a decent list.

Yeah, gotta agree. The only thing Frank Miller influenced was Howard Chaykin to change his style to something else...

Hey, I didn't make the list, I just linked to it. And you'll notice that they said these are artists whose influence was either goor OR bad, and few artists are more of a bad influence than Rob Liefeld.

That list is fucking stupid. Sure, anyone can put Kirby at Number One and not get much argument (given that he more or less invented the Marvel style) but to put guys like Adams and Eisner behind Greg Land, George Tuska and Jim Lee is roughly the equivalent of saying that three random winners of "American Idol" are more influential to music than the Beatles and Elvis.

I don't think that they're numbered in order of how much they've influenced. They're just numbered.

i actually think the list is pretty good, especially considering how terrible every internet "best" list is. it's better if un-ordered, but even if ordered it's not bad.

Did anyone whining read the fucking article?

On Ross:

He’s an impeccable craftsman, to be sure, but do people really want their superheroes to look more realistic?

On Land:
 Quote:
What’s more, the details were so precise that some claimed that Land wasn’t simply using the porn actors as body models; he was lifting them into his pages outright and doing the bare minimum of work required with Photoshop to make it look like his own drawing.

On Liefeld:
 Quote:
He sucks.

Like it or not, those guys and other shitheads like Todd McFarlane ARE influential. And, yeah, so is Frank Miller. (I've been reading his Daredevil run and it's like finding 40 more issues of The Bat-Man: Year One.)

I'm not saying he isn't influential, but is he MORE influential than the three other artists I've mentioned? No, he isn't.

this is the internet!

i don't think miller's influence is associated with his art, at all. maybe a top 50 list. comic book writer, on the other hand, and he's easily top 5 for defining the past 20 years.

I do think it's associated with his art. Not with his drawing style, but his storytelling techniques are definitely influential. He's greatly responsible for making the page more dynamic from the 80's onwards, kinda like what Eisner did in the 40's. Here's an interesting article by Alan Moore on the subject, if anyone gives a shit: http://s95378737.onlinehome.us/images/Miller.cbz

I think he's in the same league as Toth or Steranko. Tezuma is in a different category, and he probably wasn't considered for the same reason Hugo Pratt or Herge weren't.

I think another notable omission is Bruce Timm.

that doesn't make someone on a most influential list. try to understand what influential means. it's like if everyone decided to shave their hair, be too stupid to count when asked, and never get laid. that would make you influential.
