We saw Hunger Games today. Good flick. But, it would have been flat if it hadn't have been for Woody Harrelson, and the incredible efforts of Jennifer Lawrence. Her character was in nearly every single shot of the movie. Which means, she held that entire story together, alone. I was more than impressed. I thought she was good in X-Men First Class. In Hunger Games, she owned the screen. Got me thinking about the next generation of superstar actors. Of the ones I've been exposed to, I'd list these five as the very best of the crop (so far)... - 1) Jennifer Lawrence (see above)
2) Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, 30 Rock, the upcoming Johnny Depp comedy Dark Shadows, etc. This little girl already showed the world what she can do--and say!--in Kick-Ass. She will go far.)
3) Jonah Hill (If the guy can go from Superbad to working with Brad Pitt in Moneyball...and can hold his own....he's got something more than a fat-comedic act.)
4) Emma Stone (This isn't one I personally have a lot experience in watching. But, as I understand it, she seems to keep going and going, winning great word-of-mouth and critical reviews. She's Gwen Stacy in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Emo with that walking set of eyebrows, Garfield-whatsisname. I won't hold it against her. Unless "it" is my penis.)
5) Carey Mulligan (Drive, Doctor Who - Blink, etc. She's barely been in Hollywood for seven years and already been nominated for an Oscar three times. Her one episode of Doctor Who as "Sally Sparrow" in Blink is ranked as the second-best episode of all-time in the 50-year history of the series, and was nominated for multiple awards, winning the Hugo Award in 2007. She'll definitely be around for a long time to come. Great actress.)

Only thing I know Angarano from is that Gentlemen Broncos movie, and yeah he was good. And I only know Jay Baruchel from Almost Famous. So, I can't judge, really. But, I like Justin Long. I have a soft spot for him since Galaxy Quest and Dodgeball. He's a good comedic actor...

Angarano was also in Sky High. Baruchel's done some indy films that he was really good in. He's also in Tropic Thunder as the only guy who actually read the book and script.
