The 400 richest Americans used to pay 30% of their income on the average to Uncle Sam. Today, they pay 18% on the average, according to Steve Rattner, a Wall Street financier, who just presented these figures on Mornings With Joe,MSNBC.

The main reason for the drop in their tax rate of some 40% is the tax cuts by George Bush in 2003, taking the rate paid on dividends and capital gains down to 15%. This reduction in the investment class’s taxes powered the bull market in stocks from the fall of 2003 until the fall of 2007.

Shockingly, the plan to raise the debt ceiling collects nothing from the wealthiest Americans to reduce our budget deficit. The Republican right wing holds the Obama White House hostage. It’s a sad day for the principle of sharing the pain equitably.

Romney Campaign Said to Ask Scott to Downplay Job Gains

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign asked Florida Governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in the state’s economy because they clash with the presumptive Republican nominee’s message that the nation is suffering under President Barack Obama, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Scott, a Republican, was asked to say that the state’s jobless rate could improve faster under a Romney presidency, according to the people, who asked not to be named.

What’s unfolding in Florida highlights a dilemma for the Romney campaign: how to allow Republican governors to take credit for economic improvements in their states while faulting Obama’s stewardship of the national economy. Republican governors in Ohio, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin also have highlighted improving economies.

So why does the US economy stink...Democrats are making the argument that the real culprit for the country's economic woes lies in a more discrete location: with the Republican Party.

The moment facts come out against the Hatewing, they jump into shill-mode and start trying to warp actual reality. And they wonder why the entire world...including most of America....sees them as sheep being led to the slaughter by their billionaire masters. I've never seen this type of people who are so....I don't know....uninformed? Obtuse? Resistant to ANYthing outside their approval. Yet, they swear it's not racism or intolerance. No, of course not. That all disappeared from our culture suddenly and now it's just "THA L'BRAL MEEDEEAH!!"

It's like watching people forcibly drown themselves rather than accept they were wrong. How petty. How pathetic. How utterly tragic.

Oh well. Fuck them. Their selfishness will consume them. They deserve the fate they've made for themselves. On to a better future without them.

Yup, economy's doing better. My company has been selling hundreds of thousands of dollars in goods and services and I've single handedly raised my departments profitability by 50% and to celebrate they've neutered my entire departments income. Now for every $1000 I bill the company gives me $25. Fuckers. And then they threatened my job when I spoke up. Bring on Depression 2.0.
