I'm not overly admiring of royalty in general, but Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning monarch of Britain. And is revered as a leader who remained detached and nonpartisan with the 15 prime ministers she dealt with during her reign, whether they were conservative, liberal, or in one case, full-blown socialist.

I especially admire how during World War II and the bombing of London in 1940, while she was still a princess and not queen, her and her father could have evacuated to a safe location, but they both stayed in London, just as their subjects had to remain in London. She led by example, even when it meant putting herself at risk, and by doing so, inspired courage and a national will to fight. It was along the lines of "I don't need a ride, I need ammo", except her actions in 1940 were not just a war-time narrative, it really happened.

Predictably, the Left reacted with their usual poison on social media, saying the most vile things imaginable.

After what they said about the deaths of leaders like Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Tony Snow, Rush Limbaugh and so many others, why would we expect any better of them on this occasion.
I hope that loathesome professor loses her Carnegie-Mellon job. But then, they'd probably just offer her a highly paid consultant job on CNN or MSNBC. But there is hope, they eventually fired Martin Bashir, Chris Cuomo, and Brian Steltor. Some things are too loathesome, even for the Bolshevik-Left.

It's kind of odd how Queen Elizabeth died barely 24 hours after Liz Truss was named the new Prime Minister of Britain (the third woman prime minister in the U.K., after Margaret Thatcher, and Theresa May).

So a lot happening in the U.K. in the last 2 days.
It seemed to take an unusually long time to name Liz Truss as the replacement for Boris Johnson, who resigned roughly a month or two ago. Up till the time Boris Johnson resigned, while I was aware of some unforced errors by Johnson that got him a lot of media headlines and criticism, I wasn't aware just how widely unpopular he had become. (as demonstrated by a charts-topping single "Boris Johnson is a fucking cunt", by a punk band The Kunts. With a planned follow-up Christmas single, "Boris Johnson is STILL a fucking cunt!")

I always thought that was Nowhereman's unique signature phrase. But apparently "Cunt!" is a fairly prevalent term in the U.K.
Regardless, Boris Johnson was enormously unpopular when he chose to resign. Particularly for his Covid lockdown policy and personal hypocrisy on the issue (comparable to the hypocritical actions of the U.S. governors of New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California), and for environmental policy that has roughly doubled the cost of energy for U.K. citizens and is crippling the nation as badly as in the continental European countries they Brexit-ed from.

I don't know what kind of a king successor Charles III will be, but he at least shows promise of pushing for more conservative and pragmatic energy policy, and has a history of taking strong stances against Russia and China in recent years.

Regarding the Carnegie-Mellon professor who wished Queen Elizabeth an excruciating painful death and accused her of things that didn't even happen during Queen Elizabeth II's reign, here's a little background on the vile Twitter-posting professor :
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...iating-pain-queen-elizabeth-hours-death/

So she's a black Nigerian national and radical lesbian, who has hatred for the western nations that gave her refuge and a better life, and is obsessed with black racial-identity politics, whether it is the British Commonwealth nations, or in her rantings about Brazil. And no doubt sees the U.S. she lives in as a similar white racist genocidal imperialist nation, despite how good the U.S. has been to her.

And this...

Classy.
This is a top-tier university professor. And THIS is how she represents herself and her university online?!?
Carnegie-Mellon should immediately suspend her, pending termination.
She is truly vile and unhinged, without a shred of personal dignity. And that reflects very badly on Carnegie-Mellon, if they keep her in their employ. In addition to her other beyond-the-pale remarks, wishing the queen to die in excruciating pain.

And she apparently is supported in all this by a large slice of the global political Left, in that her initial Twitter post wishing the queen excruciating pain before her death got 10,000 likes, before it was deleted. And given that her post was deleted after only a few hours, it no doubt would have gotten a lot more likes from the hate-filled Left, if it were allowed to remain up. Twitter and Facebook in deleting this kind of stuff, hides how truly hate-filled and evil the Left truly is. Remember when Donald Trump was diagnosed with Covid-19 in late 2020, and that got over a million "likes" before Facebook took it down, and posted a message warning Democrats not to post mean stuff that reveals how truly spiteful and mean they truly are.

NIGEL FARAGE FIRES BACK AT PROGRESSIVES ATTACKING QUEEN ELIZABETH'S LEGACY

Quote
In an appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Thursday, Farage said he felt it his duty to fiercely defend the legacy of the queen against those "that want to destroy everything that our civilizations are about."

"To those who will attack her and think she's linked to colonialism, this woman put on a military uniform to fight Hitler in World War II," Farage fired back. "This woman went all over the world to Black Africa and elsewhere doing all she could to genuinely help people. I really think we must stand up and defend this great woman."
Farage praised the character and leadership of the fallen monarch, describing a feeling of "profound sadness" across all of Britain at the loss of their longtime leader.

"There may be some in academia, there may be some writing for The New York Times that want to sully the memory of this great woman," he said. "But I would argue that today has passed not just the most famous person in the world, but probably the most admired and respected person in the world."

"This is pure Marxism," he later added. "It’s about bringing down western civilization. We have to fight to defend it."

Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II, who served as Britain’s monarch for seven decades, died peacefully in her sleep at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96. Her passing marked the loss of a leader of a rare caliber, Farage said, adding that he doubts the world "will ever see the like of her again."

"She was the queen for people from countries from all over the world, respected, loved. Something has gone today," Farage told Carlson. "Something about honesty, integrity, duty, service, dignity, Christianity, and patriotism is gone."

Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II’s son, officially became king following her death. His title will be King Charles III.

Man... the ceremonies and funeral memorials for Elizabeth II are seemingly endless. It frankly creeps me out how they cart her coffin all over the place and have her "in repose" or "in resting" in multiple locations, with multiple military ceremonies, so people in various parts of the U.K. can come through one at a time and view her body. Today the Queen's body is at Westminster Hall.

I'm sympathetic and understanding that this is Britain's longest reigning queen, and that she was and is a respected and loved queen. But I've attended open-coffin funerals, and I frankly prefer not to look. I prefer to remember those I cared about as they were in life. But I guess an open-coffin viewing is perhaps for closure, to sink in the reality that the person you are mourning is, in fact, dead, visible for all to see.

There's also a lot of elaborate British tradition in these ceremonies that are different from those in the United States. The U.S. being a constitutional republic that was formed in opposition to notions of royalty and empire, and the surrounding rituals. Although to many other nations, the U.S. is an empire of sorts too, despite its formation in opposition to such traditions. And as in the example of the funeral of JFK, or the funerals of Ronald Reagan, and more recently of George H.W. Bush, while perhaps not as elaborate as ceremony in the royal U.K. commonwealth, we have somewhat similar viewings and elaborate national ceremony.

This is the most impressive British ceremony I've seen since the British withdrew from Hong Kong in 1996. I was so impressed with those Hong Kong ceremonies, I regret not having recorded them for posterity. Although 26 years later, plenty have probably posted the complete ceremonies on Youtube and elsewhere on the internet.

Whether honored dead of the U.S., or the U.K., or famous leaders of other nations worldwide, I'm always amazed how much more is made known about their lives and legacy in the days and weeks after they die, and Elizabeth II is no exception. I always perceived Elizabeth II and the British royal family to be regarded by citizens of the U.K. as more controversial and less loved than she, and they, appear to be in the last two weeks.
For example, controversy of the queen's reported coldness toward Princess Diana, and particularly discussed in the months and years after Diana's death. There was even a conspiracy theory that the royal family had her killed.
Or Charles' extramarital affair with Camilla, that apparently went on before, during and after his entire marriage to Diana.
Or Prince Andrew's involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, allegedly raping an under-age girl provided to him by Epstein.
Or Prince Harry and Meghan Markle trashing the royal family, and enriching themselves as Hollywood celebrities in doing so.

To name just a few of the scandals, that would make you think the royals less popular than they truly are. But regardless of these incidents, Both Elizabeth II, and now her successor Charles III, have proven to be far more revered and loved, in spite of these controversies.
