My entire moral compass was set by that funky Autobot. I sometimes wonder why so many young kids are shooting each other in schools and whatnot, and then I realize they had Barney where my age had Prime. Poor, poor bastards.

I wonder if JQ is old enough to remember Transformers . . .

I guess I learned to trade youth for wisdom
And lust in for romance
It's all written in the stages and phases
Of life's little dance

Optimus is my personal savior...

And I stand firm that Bibbo stole that philosophy from me -- 'twas I who indoctrinated him in the ways of today's wayward non-transformer-ness!

Don't go starting shit, I-Man, especially not in His name. When you get your own forum, then you can have your own ideas.

Optimus Prime dies for youe sins.

As Decepticons go, I think Soundwave was my favorite too.

So back in 1984, when I-Man and I were just wee little tots, we got a shitload of Transformers for Christmas, one of them being Shockwave (the purple gun thing). The young and impressionable I-Man thought to have Ironhide attack the Shockwave figure, and in the process knocked the Decepticon from a table some 15 inches to a carpeted floor. I guess Shockwave was defective, 'cause his head and at least one of his limbs came off. Anyway, mom returned him and we never saw a new one.

Then back in like '92 or '93 I found a Shockwave at a yardsale my scout troop was putting on. For fifty cents I got one that was in damn near mint condition except for a missing battery cover and a frayed rubber hose around the wires leading from his chest to his gun. Man, what a steal!

Dude! Being a moderator's no excuse to lie!

1. I found Shockwave at the yard sale.

2. Funny how you left out the part about you dropping Megatron off the balcony and gleefully watching him splinter to pieces on the hard floor twenty feet below -- not even diecast metal can take that much damage...

Ok, you want to know what I do as a moderator here? I tell you to stop complaining and post on topic. This ain't a thread for flaming, but a thread to tell how Optimus and the other Transformers made you what you are today.

So, quit yer bitchin' and expound on your Transformers / Hero of a Thousand Faces theory or something.

Raise your hand if you feel the love!

If you check out IMDB, you can find all sorts of character voices that Peter Cullen, the guy that played Optimus Prime and Ironhide on Transformers, has done.

Some examples:
Eeyore in most Pooh movies
Eddie in the FAKE Ghostbuster series
Grundle/Ahgg in the My Little Pony Movie
The narrator for Voltron
Venger in Dungeons and Dragons
Mario in the Donkey Kong cartoon

Ah, such stardom . . .

When I watch the scenwhere the Junkions reassemble the exploded Ultra Magnus, I wonder "why don't they brng them back to Earth to fix Optimus?"

It'd save us the second rate Rodimus Prime. Like "rodimus" means shit in any classical language!

I actually used to really like the show after the movie, Grimlock became really interesting!

Bibs & I-man, did you used to read the comic?

I read most of the US comic years ago. They are sitting in a box at home waiting for me to pick them all up again.

When I was home for Thanksgiving, I-Man convinced me to lay down eighty bucks for about a hundred issues of the UK Transformer/Action Force mag. I haven't had a chance to read those yet.

My mom decided to not renew the subscription to the US mag when it was about 6 issues from the end. Some things you never forgive people for . . .
