Dead Rising, House of the Dead Overkill.

Finally bought myself a sensor bar so I can do that pointing thing with the Wii. Had more fun with House of the Dead. Dead Rising, not so much. Maybe it's because there's none of that camera shit in the Wii version, so it's kind of just a straightforward zombie shooting game.

Back to Fire Pro Wrestling Returns on the PS2.

I was rusty as all FUCK for the first few matches, but then I RAWKED like I did back in the day.

Did you ever check out "Dead Space" for the Wii? loved the original game and wasted about an hour on the Wii shooter, and I thought it was pretty good.

I got to try Dead Space Extraction. It is shit. Graphics were amazing and I guess the story is top notch, but I've played so many damn zombies/mutant shooting games that I don't really care about the story anymore. I just want a fun rail-shooter, and Dead Space is shit as a rail shooter. I'm already on the 3rd chapter and I still don't have access to an effective gun.

A pistol and a Rivet gun, both of which can't kill the mutants instantly even if I shoot them square in the head or in the crotch, or in their other head. It sucks because insta-kills are one of the pleasures of shooters. The cutscenes are also lengthy, and I think each chapter is about 20% game and 80% cutscene.

It's what I get for trusting PCG's recommendations.

I just pirated the ISO but I still felt ripped off.

I played a demo of the first one, and that was shit, so havent bothered with either of them.

It just seems traditional to produce movie tie ins related to Comic movies in recent years.
The only ones that I can think of that were any good were the Wolverine one on the PS3, and Punisher and Batman Begins on the PS2.

I think the first Spidey one wasnt bad, but the second one was just a rehash of the first, and the third one on the PS3 was awful.

Fantastic Four 2 on the PS3 was pretty bad, and I only bought it cause it was £5 (nevere even bothered completing it).

Never even bothered with The Hulk ones as they looked poor as well.

Not sure if there were any decent X-Men ones.

Ghost Rider looked poor (I may have even owned it on the PS2, but I forget, so if I did, that says how shit it must have been).

Oh, and I played a trial of The Watchmen one as well ... it was cack.

The X-Men game (I think it was III, the one based on the third movie) was almost decent. Graphics were good, and the combat was actually enjoyable but the game itself was too restrictive. It was trying too hard to make you follow the story that it turned into a series of minigames: One moment you're wolverine fighting thugs and a few seconds later you're fighting Sabertooth and trying to get him to fall off a scaffolding, and then a few seconds later you're ice man trying to pilot your stupid ice slide towards rings in the sky. It would have been infinitely more playable if they just made it a straightforward beat-em-up.

The HULK game based on the Ang Lee movie was enjoyable, the cel-shaded graphics has aged well, and the combat was addictive, except for the stealth stages, which were insanely difficult to the point of being broken. Good thing there was a survival mode where you just beat up wave after wave of bad guys (only, it gets boring after a while because all the stages are indoors/underground, and there are only 3 kinds of enemies).

The HULK game based on the Edward Norton film on the other hand is shit. Shit
graphics, shit gameplay. Only thing good about it is the sandbox-y world, so that I don't have to bother with the story mode if I just want to run around New York breaking stuff.

Yeah. It's stupid. I wanted a Hulk Smashes Stuff game, not a Banner Hides From Soldiers minigame.

I remember the Hulk game I used to play years ago on the Mega Drive (I think it was). That was brilliant.

I also played that game, and the SNES version. At least in those games, Banner had access to a gun and can fight.

I'm starting to hate the FPS/rail shooters on the Wii, the more that I play them. I love the old zapper games on the NES and the rail shooters on the arcades, but the wiimote, even with the gun attachment, feels nothing like it. You don't really use the wimmote to aim at targets - you use the wimmote to move a cursor that you will use to aim at targets. Big difference. This means markmanship skills are worth jackshit, even if you're a few inches off your target, as long as you manage to move the crosshairs fast enough, you'll hit the target.

It's like using a mouse that requires more effort to move. This is the first time I experienced what it's like to perspire, I was scared at first and thought that my soul is leaking out of my body.
