Just finished LA Noire. Impressed by some aspects of it, not so much others. I finished it in little over a week, and that's with me being out of town for a three day weekend. I didn't do everything, I admit. I really didn't feel like spending hours looking for cars to ride around in just for achievement points or finding old landmarks. Even so, there should be more gameplay there.

I had also downloaded Beyond Good & Evil HD. This game was so much fun on the PS2 that it was a must for me to get again.

Super Scribblenauts. Very addictive. I'm surprised at how good it is at recognizing things. I didn't expect that it will understand how to create the words black hole, virus, god, pneumatic drill, and beautiful titan. I can picture a similar system being used for a Green Lantern game that allows you to create almost anything you can imagine (just an RPG, of course. It wouldn't work in an action game or any genre that requires instantaneous creation of things).

I'm playing a Japanese RPG called Xenoblade Chronicles basically because I got antsy waiting for the new Zelda, but it's actually pretty good, in that you don't have to stop and go to a stupid screen to throw powers at the enemies, you can just go and punch them.

The world is also pretty huge, but if I stray from the path they told me to follow I may run into the giant and he'll kill me with a single punch. I'm afraid of the giant.

I probably shouldn't have, but I shelled out the bucks for Dark Souls.

I liked Demon's Souls, but this strikes me as a clone, so I'm a l'il iffy on it.

We'll see if it's worth it.

Keep doing that, and that child will grow up as useless as rex.

Finished the main story and a couple side missions on Batman Arkham City. I will probably go back later to finish up a few more side stuff and play as Robin/Nightwing/Catwoman/Sinestro Corp Batman.

I picked up Uncharted 3 today.

Giving Castleville on facebook a try. A lot more complicated than other facebook games I've played and I'm enjoying it to far.

Snagged the Bulletstorm Limited Edition for $10, and the Online Pass was still valid. Also: Saints Row: The Third.

hell yes. I'm tired of spending $60 on new games that are released with dlc on-disc, $60 a year for xbl, multiplayer games full of 12 year olds on mic and game modders, and red rings of death. I don't have the money to buy a ps3 or a Wii, and if I did I don't have the cash to blow on games that might suck or have the same issues that I have with Xbox games. So I spent $15, replaced my old 72 pin connector on my nes, bought a super nes, and am digging through an endless library of epic games me and my friends have collected since childhood.

I pretty much did the same thing in the original Nintendo days. Couldn't afford a new console, so I'd ride my bike to the pawn shops and by old Atari 2600 games for about a buck each.

I actually think mine is still buried somewhere at my mom's house. It'd take Indiana Fucking Jones to find it in all that shit she has in the storage room, though.

This game is a lot easier than I remember, or maybe it just looks easy compared to the non-X Megamen, but it's still awesome. I'd forgotten that you can get the Ha-Do-Ken here. What the fuck is that? That's insane.

Also, I didn't get a Wii until last year, but it was one of the best investments I've ever made, because all you need is an SD card and you can turn it into a classic game emulator. I have a flash drive with every SNES game ever made, a bunch of NES ones and even some MAMEs. The classic controller is awesome too.

my wife and I reorganized the entertainment cabinet to accommodate her n64 and ps2 in addition to her parents' nintendo not-a-real-word. I think a lot of people are going back to the consoles and games they enjoyed a console generation or two ago because they're getting increasingly frustrated with the bullshit developers are putting them through. the industry keeps moving away from the up-front single-purchase sales model we've always enjoyed and toward a subscription-based model that wrings every last bit of profitability out of games at the slight cost of originality, innovation, and the buyer getting their money's worth. cracked had a few good articles about why console gaming is going down the shitter, and sadly even PC gaming (at least of the single-player variety) seems to be in trouble, as valve and bethesda seem to be two of the only decent developers remaining who aren't completely intent on fucking gamers over.

go.

I can see publishers going download-only in 15 years while keeping the same pricing scheme and charging an annual subscription for online multiplayer and dlc access.

The problem with the console games are that it takes millions of dollars these days to publish even a bad game. The DLC is a way for them to make more money even if the games don't sell that well. I still feel like I'm getting ripped off if I buy a $60 or $70 game only to find out that most of the cool stuff is going to cost me more money. Especially with extra level on short games. That's why I generally wait until they're in the $20 to $30 range or just borrow from friends.
