Madden 2004, Franchise Mode. Oakland Raiders. Super Bowl champs 9 times in 11 years. Throughout the years, I created myself and some of you. I'm the first-option wideout, Joe Mama's fullback and Mxy's free safety. I did create Kamphausen as a tight end (heh.) but his ass couldn't take the pounding: I simulated a game in Year Five and he had a career-ending injury. Guess what it was - You guessed right! A torn groin!

Advance Wars 2 ate up about four hours of my time yesterday. The GBA is going back in the draw for a while. I've got lots of work to do this week.

You know, I tried to play Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA) the other and just couldn't do it. It's too archaic now that I know the glory that is Mario Kart Double Dash.

I still love Super Mario Kart, but you're right, the old games just don't hold up any more.

Extreme Warfare Revenge

I've been playing for two days with the WWE and I've already done the following:

1. gotten rid of the roster split,

2. fired Triple H (fucker had creative control in his contract and wouldn't job to workers who are not main eventers - it's very realistic),

3. released Kevin Nash (injury. like I said, very realistic)

4. and Billy Gunn (he just isn't over with the fans)

5. and I'm currently pushing Paul London against Shawn Micheals for the world heavyweight championship. Jericho is feuding with AJ styles for the intercontinental. And Sting is given a heel "putz" gimmick.

Viewtiful Joe is the shiznoit!

But guess what? My time's been centered on Madden 2005. Quite possibly the greatest incarnation of the series! Just in time to celebrate its 15th anniversary too. Everything's improved upon and made more difficult: AI's more advanced so running plays are more difficult to pull off; players fight for starting positions; they added individual and team morale; 3-D fans and transitional weather; signal calling's improved greatly. And the most improved feature is defensive control. You can select your linemen and backs to go for collective or individual routes, and there's the Hit Stick. I love that fuckin' thing! Flick the C stick and you kill the wideout or back coming your way! Depending on the angle and amount of power put into the tackle, one can cause a fumble or injury to the severity of career-ending!

I broke Bulger's neck when sacking him with Julian Peterson.

Alright, finished Viewtiful Joe today (damn, Fire Leo was tough). That game was fuckin' sweet. Played through as Dante from Devil May Cry after unlocking him. That was cool. I now look forward to Viewtiful Joe 2 on Nov. 23. I am picking up the Street Fighter Aniversary Collection tomorrow.

Picked it up today along with a game called Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Looked interesting and it looks long (2 discs). Also, just found that Street Fighter has the Street Fighter II: Animated Movie on it. Kinda cool, though I already have it.

That looks cool. I was about to get it till I found out that it was by Square-Enix, which is a whore for making real time FF fighter engines. And that sucks donkey dick. Just play FFX-2 to understand.

FF-X2 did suck balls. It was a poor sequel to the fabulous FFX.

Currently, I am playing:

Hitman: Contracts

-If there's something I love, it's video game contract killing. The Hitman known as '47' is a smooth iceman that will drop your ass faster than a bad habit. This game is a perfectly polished sequel to Hitman: Codename 47, and, Hitman 2. If you like intelligent gameplay, AI, and smooth graphics, and want to just do a bit of professional killing, check this out.

007: Everything or Nothing

--By far the best Bond game to hit the market. With a new hand-to-hand fight engine, you can now throw baddies off the balconey with the best Brosnan panache you can muster. The killing is still great, and the missions are even better. It's a third-person only, though.

One thing that has dramatically improved is the animation and graphics. Reflective surfaces, flawless human movement, and the absolute spit-likeness of every star. I'm not exaggerating. Added Bonus: Pierce Brosnan (Bond), Judi Dench (M), John Cleese (Q) all fully voice their characters, and Shannon Elizabeth, Mya, and Willem Dafoe do the same with their roles. Also starring Heidi Klum, and Richard Kiel as "Jaws"! Again, the best Bond game. Period.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

-This has been out for awhile, and I've been playing it for just as long. But, the free-roaming continues to be the best of any game. And, let's be honest....I'm just prepping for the far superior GTA:San Andreas coming out next month.

Tekken Tag

-Still my all-time favorite fighting game. The controls move on a dime, and, I love me a Law/Bryan Fury duo...

And, really, that's it. I await Final Fantasy 12 with great anticipation, and, as mentioned, GTA: San Andreas. Other than that, I'm not into the first-person shooters, or any of the other structured type games....

So how is the game?

I have to wait until January for it to be released on the X Box.

Which? I finished Bujingai: The Forsaken City. This was not that bad. Story is like a chinese adventure flick and the gameplay was like Devil May Cry.

Street Fighter is awesome! The graphics and sound take me back. As well as the cheap AI that seems to have the ability to counter all your moves. Still great though. Damn glad I got this game.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time I've also just started. I am about an hour in. Graphics and scenes are great. Amazing really. Story is cool. Gameplay is taking some time to get used to. Especially the battles and that whole system.

Yeah, I meant Street Fighter.

How does that work? With all the games combined, do you still fight a boss at the end?

Yeah. When you start it up you first choose between Street Fighter II (Bison is still boss, though if you play through without losing a round you'll fight Akuma) and Street Fighter III (Gill is boss). Then, if you chose Street Fighter II, you choose between which playing system you want. There's normal (SF II), Champion Edition, Turbo, Super, and Super Turbo.

So let's say you choose Super Turbo...do all of your opponets fight in that style, or does the game mix it up?

Let me ask a question: What is it with these fighting games, such as Street Fighter, that you guys find so appealing?

Is it nostalgia? Is it some affinity for the Japanimation? What is it about these games that makes them your favorites?

The same with the first-person shooter games. Why? What is it about them that gets you off so much? I've tried Halo, and found it to be relatively boring. Same with Half-Life. You just...shoot people/things. Boring. That's just me, though.

Just curious, as I can't quite fathom what it is you guys see in these games. I'm hoping to be enlightened here....

The Street Fighters games (especially the Turbo versions) are fast paced action games, which really are a lot of fun. Every game is different, in the sense that you can do the same techniques and patterns over and over, but you won't always get the same results (your opponent may block, counter, or attack before you do).

The AI in the later versions can be tough, and human challengers can be tougher. Also in the later versions, you can pull off some insane combo attacks, which do require a good degree of skill and timing.

FPS games are easier to master when playing the AI, since most have the same enemies appearing in the same locations (fpr example, in one of my favorites, "Medal of Honor", you know when snipers will appear in certain buildings, based on playing the game previously). Even though most FPS games can be heavily scripted, what's not to like about mowing down people with a machine gun, or killing enemy soldiers with grenades?
