I find the story believable. I've read that Perlmutter is the kind of person who will cut off his nose just to spite his face.
I'm guessing they'll change the iron man character by taking Stark out of the picture and have him replaced by another character, that way they can take Downey out. Maybe have Rhodes be Iron Man instead.
I'm actually seeing a pattern here: they've replaced Peter Parker with Miles, and had him trade souls with Doc Ock, then they killed Wolverine like the bitch that he is, they also replaced Cap with Sam Wilson, turned the Fantastic Four into a dysfunctional family with one member actually powerless and the other a convict. There's also Thor losing his post to a woman.
It seems like they're adjusting the comics for the movies lately. Probably because the revenue on the films is bigger.
