Before the dust had even settled on Obama's humiliating across-the-board defeat in the mid-term election, Obama immediately began trying to change the subject by alleging that due to lack of Republican cooperation on resolving illegal immigration, he was going to issue an executive order to give amnesty to between 4 and 5 million illegals.

That ignores the clear will of the American people in the election he just lost.

That also ignores that the key obstruction has been Democrat Senate majority leader Harry Reid's blocking of votes on ANY legislation in the Senate.

It also ignores that the first two years of Obama's presidency, the Democrats controlled the Senate and House, with such large majorities that they could have easily passed any immigration reform they wanted regardless of the Republicans. But they DIDN'T.

So it's a complete sham to blame the Republicans now. Obama and the Democrats didn't pursue this in 6 years, not when they had supermajorities, not when they had two branches of government. This is pure Saul Alinsky and Rahm Emmanuel, manufacturing a crisis to demagogue the opposition, and not letting that crisis go to waste.

But the simple fact is, with Harry Reid gone, the Republican majorities in the House and Senate could easily work together and negotiate an immigration reform as soon the new congress convenes in January.
And that's really the point: Obama want to prevent immigration reform from being a Republican achievement. By passing an illegal executive order (one that doesn't amend an existing law, but legislates one to bypass the lawmaking realm of the legislature) he can demagogue the Republicans as evil racist immigrant-haters who would never pass a new immigration law, despite that they were going to negotiate one in the new congress, as soon as the Harry Reid obstruction had been removed.

And because the media are Obama/Democrat-bots they will fly cover for whatever rhetoric or action the Democrats front. In a media that is over 80% liberal, prevalence of the lying pro-Democrat media propaganda wins over the truth.

Although regardless, this can still backfire on Obama, both among popular opinion, and in the higher courts over the coming months.

I see this as Obama's Battle of the Bulge, his refusal to cede defeat, and his suicidal push for one nationally destructive last offensive, before his Berlin falls.
