I'm part Cherokee, and I've always seen these references to native Americans in team names and so forth as a good thing, for a very small minority that is otherwise virtually invisible among the far larger minorities of blacks, Hispanics, Asians, pacific islanders and so forth. I'm of the opinion that any publicity is good publicity, that creates an awareness and interest in native American culture.

I don't know one native American that is offended by names like the Washington Redskins or Florida State Seminoles. I see these manufactured outrage cases as more about attacking America and creating a narrative that we're an evil racist place that exploits minorities, than it is about any real attempt to uplift native Americans or any other minority.

Score one for the good guys on this ruling.
