I've seen it before. It's getting a big push in telecommunications as a new way to do important board-meeting like conference calls. Also, it's been used by magicians and amusement parks alike for decades. The software that made Tupac is really the only high-tech aspect of this. Again, for clarification, it's not a hologram. It's a projection onto a transparent surface on the stage. There is no 3-D construct on stage, just a 2-D image of a 3-D computer rendered character (like in a video game or movie) that is just given the appearance of 3-D through an optical illusion that's been in use for 400 years.

I am impressed with the advancements in computer generated negros. It means we no longer need real ones.

When he comes out of the holodeck, he's still soaked and dripping water everywhere. WTF? How does the water remain outside the holodeck? It's fucking holograms, dawg!!
