Dave just made an announcement on the 'official' board that he has been given permission by Steve Wacker to break the silence. He is drawing 5 pages for the Legion's upcoming 45th anniversary.

First Steve now Dave. I must have died and gone to heaven!

But only 5 pages. -

Well...it's a start.

Maybe the PTB weren't lying when the said the best was yet to come for the Legion. I just posted over at the other board that all we need now is for Paul Levitz to pen a story for Dave and Steve to work on together and I would die a happy man. Actually over there I said it would be the icing (on the cake) but I feel no less exuberant about Dave's upcoming work.

Thank God that cat's out of the bag. I found out a while back by accident, won't say how, but promised not to tell. I didn't either although it's been extreeeeeeeemly hard. When I first found out, steam shot out of my ears and my hair stood on end like a cartoon. I can't wait to see this!!!!

Pardon my french, but Legion fans fucking rule! I hope somebody hits those sons of bitches over at Marvel on the head with rolled up copies of the issue till they bleed.

(Oh yeah, before I get too full of myself, let me add that Dave's a hell of an artist and I think he should have been involved with the anniversery whether we campaigned for him or not so I won't give Nightcrawler's epic Support thread full credit for his return. Nonetheless, I think Editor Wacker has his ear to the ground.)

Shooter'd probably have to sneak into DC HQ in full ninja garb if Mike Carlin's still got that rod up his ass, but I hope he snuck in somehow. Maybe he dressed up like a really tall pizza deliveryman.

Hopefully he'll draw Wildfire. Can't wait to see his rendition of the post-boot version.

(BTW, I hope I didn't sound like I took credit for any of this. If I did, I apologize. Dave and Steve have earned their place by their professionalism and body of work! Hopefully their issues will spike sells enough to get TPTB into realizing that substance & talent is better than flashy flavors of the week & controversy.)

D'oh! I wasn't demeaning your contribution to this great news by any means Nightie! I just didn't want to make it sound like I think Dave just got the work solely because of the fans support or something, because he deserved the gig on his own merits.

While Cockrum was a giant in the industry, I'm curious -- what has he done in the last ten or fifteen years? Has he even been working in the industry? I haven't seen anything.

Dave had a pretty good run on a book called Soulsearchers in the 90's. Don't know who published it and never read an issue either, but he posted a bunch of pages in the Dave gallery at nightscrawlers.com and it pretty much looked like classic Cockrum to me. The pinups and sketches I've seen him post recently look good too. I can't wait to see this issue. I found out from him last week that he didn't know who was going to be inking it. I'm sort of hoping Andy Lanning gets to since he's said before he wanted to work with Dave. Andy is the inking one right?

Great news ain't it. I wish they would let him do a spotlight issue like Steve is doing.
