new plan set out by dubya.

its a goal to have american students in grammar school write letters of peace and "nice-ness" to children in war-torn afghanistan (and surrounding areas).

its actually not a bad idea.

the current in-power generation over in the middle east simply is not going to like us, no matter what we do.

but we DO have the chance to uncorrupt the young generation, before they get too far gone!

But . . .

70% of the people in Afghanistan are illiterate, and that means illiterate in their native languages, not to mention English! And the fact that there was precious little infrastructure - including mail service - even before we started bombing them. So how do you deliver these letters, and to whom, and who will even be able to read them?

and, eh, to be honest, i think this was more of a PC and PR move. moreso to make sure our kids dont hate "them" for hate's sake.
