You'll gotta excuse me for a sec, while i rant off some steam. This whole Jesica Santillan thing has pissed me off.

Not for the reasons you think, though.

I'm mad because now, after she's died, and it's all on the news....people are bitching and complaining about the costs, and who is gonna pay for this, etc.

A woman on tv tonight said, "yeah, I'd give her a transplant, I'd transplant her ass right back to her home country the second I found out she was an illegal immigrant."

Completely heartless.

I'd like to tell that bitch that I do believe we ALL pay taxes, and 5% of organs in stock are held for immigrants, and that Jesica Santillan was MORE than welcome to my share. When you have Bill Clinton buying expensive toilet seats for his bathroom with our tax money, I really don't feel the need to complain about giving a dying girl a transplant and picking up the costs.

No, I don't think Santillan's parents should be able to sue because of the hospital's fuck up. In this circumstance, with them being illegal aliens, that right is void. They should realize that they were being granted a service for American citizens. But people aren't commenting on that as much as they are as why she given the chance for surgery in the first place. That's where it boils my blood.

My thought here is - there comes a point when immigration lines and borders shouldn't matter. Basic human compassion should.
Besides, what kind of country would we be if we have the opportunity to help victims that are already here like this but turn them away because lack of a green card? Aren't we supposed to be better than that? Aren't we a "superior" country? Sure doesn't sound like it. I used to think we were the best country in the world. Keeping people safe, fighting the good fight. Go U.S.A.! Sure as hell not anymore.

By watching the news and hearing so many ill comments
toward this dead little girl, the state of America and some of it's greedy, selfish, ignorant citizens really scare me. I'm starting to see why so many other countries dislike us Americans.

Sad fact of American hospitals is that for the most part they are businesses....(see John Q for examples).

I think perhaps part of the outcry stems from people like you and me who have insurance that wouldnt cover the cost of the transplants...and we would be screwed...so maybe all those who look on us in shame should think about the fact that yes our country DID offer the support for the transplants for these poor imigrants. I think one of this countries greatest problems is how the managed care insurance companies are really destroying the healthcare industries.

Do you realize that someone who tries to kill themselves has to have PRE authorization from their insurance company PRIOR to getting treatment?

I'm all for helping people, but what happened to the hippocratic oath what happened to doctors donating their time..why should tax payers pay for it all......medicaid is already bankrupting a majority of states..now Mexico is sending ambulances across the border and making american taxpayers pay for it....I'm not heartless, but that's wrong....At the same time Canada is wanting to pass legislation that says americans can't buy prescription drugs there. If Mexico won't do donated surgeries for it's own citizens..why should America be forced to???

Hell, Canada can't afford a military due to health care cost..... Hummmmm,,,, perhaps a pay to play thing should go into effect???? Well, I guess we can't do that because we want to pay for every person that wants to get a free ride,,,,,,, Oh,,,, excuse me,,,, I'm an American,,,, I shouldn't speak that way!
I love our system in this country. We over tax those that use less of the system and we under tax those that abuse our system. How long will America be great? Not to long at this rate. I don't want to be like France! They suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone wants to get down on the doctors for making "too much" money.

How about the fucking insurance companies that bleed you dry on the premiums and offer shit in return?

Many insurance companies will only authorize a set of glasses or contacts one pair a year although most optomists recommend a new set every year.

I often do the insurance pre certs after hours for our psych patients.
One time I called the Insurance company about a woman who father died in her home and she freaked took him and wrapped him in tinfoil and stuck him in the attic. The insurance company made us go through a battery of questions before authorizing admission?!?!?!?

Oh no, Docs deserve cash...I'm just saying Hospitals admit illegals and then expect taxpayers to pay the tab instead of doing charitable work......

That's my beef.....

there's malpractice, insurance greed..all kinds of things that lead to high costs, but there is a breaking point and the US has reached it, and already crossed it...

Also Franta you'd appreciate that my county failed another mental health levy and kicked all the patients out into the streets..people that won't vote yes to a mental health levy are insane themselves....

But overall state level health costs and otehr budgetary concerns are forcing these issues because Most states are running budgets in a deficit...the money has to coem from somewhere..and I personally think I'm overtaxed now.....hey i'll vote yes for a mental health levy..but i can't force other people to.

the joy of America is freedom..sometimes that leads to greed and selfishness.....but theer is only so much money to go around...

Pretty fucking sad that all the break through in educating the public about mental health in the 60s is currently being underminded by insurance companies and legislature.
The fact that we have to PRE-CERTIFY psych patinets is absurd.
Whats next will they call the insurance companies after we get in a car accident?

Oh hes only bled half a gallon... he can be seen at his doctors office a week from today..

Another thing....fucking insurance kicks out mothers less than 24 hours after giving birth!!! Even if the babies need to stay!

A man suffered a serious heart attack and had open heart bypass
surgery. He
awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at a
Catholic
hospital. As he was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how
he
was going to pay for services. He was asked if he had health insurance.
He
replied, in a raspy voice, "No health insurance." The nun asked if he
had
money in the bank. He replied, "No money in the bank." The nun asked,
"Do
you have a relative who could help you?" He said, "I only have a
spinster
sister, who is a nun." The nun got a little perturbed and announced
loudly.
"Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God!"

The patient replies, "Send the bill to my brother-in-law".
