Was watching some repeat Episodes of CSI on TiVo. On the show Overload (I think that was the name), when they are explaining why a nail was hammered into the electrocuted workman's boot, someone said that cars are protected from lightning strikes because they are insulated from the ground by their tires.

Friend decides to chime in, and states that the tires don't insulate the car from lightning. The car acts like a huge Faraday Cage.

What was he talking about?
