I was on match.com, but then I cancelled it when I lost my job.
It seemed like a good thing, I met a couple women who I had plenty in common with.

My apologies. I was doing some net research on relationships, and all these ads for internet dating services kept popping up, so I started wondering how effective these ads really were.
That and I want to know if anyone has ever found success this way.

Oh, I consider that slightly different.
Online dating includes stuff like AOL and other chat services. I'm really talking about stuff like Match.com and eHarmony.
I'm also including the offline stuff. Like all those local services that let you video tape yourself talking about yourself while feeling foolish.

Like I said earlier, match.com seems to be pretty good.
I've heard really good things about e-harmony, but its pretty expensive, I think 50 a month.

I use Lycos. I have met a girl, taking her out on Saturday. Have spent about 15 hours on the phone to her since saturday. Talked to her every night. I am quite optomistic.
I know some women I have made friends with on there that have had bad experiences. A lot of arsehole blokes on them by the sound of it.

I met my fiancee on match.com.
I am divorced after 10 years of marriage, so i had not "dated" in 13 years or so. I had no idea how to approach the situation or start the process again, so i joined match.
Had many "eh" dates. Fun but not anything i was interested in for long term. Then I met my fiancee and things just kept getting better.
So, yeah i think they work, if you know what you are looking for and are realistic about the situation.
