Remember when DC was pushing the Lords of Chaos and Lords of Order? Remember when every other hero was suddenly an Elemental?

The Order/Chaos stuff ended in Dr Fate. There was an Elemental War with Red Tornado, Swamp Thing and Captain Atom in Firestorm.

Well, that's not interesting.

Poor Firestorm. Sounds like his ass was crowded.
I like Mxy's one about the giant guy in Superman who swore revenge and never returned.
The one I always raise is The Image, a superhero set up with a secret origin in Green Lantern #180 or thereabouts. Guy has a nasty accident and is crippled, letters column promises he will be a new hero, never happens.

Yeah, I do remember that time. The late '80s. It seemed like DC was really pushing for their own DC Universe version of the "unified field theory" which would connect a lot of disparate characters together in order to make the DC universe as connected as Marvel's universe, which had been killing them in sales throughout the late '70s and early '80s.
I thought it became especially silly when Amethyst was suddenly made a Lord of Order like Dr. Fate. That was just a bit too much.

John Byrne's House of M storyline running in West Coast Avengers..that got derailed and wrapped up by Paul Ryan... And now Marvel and Bendis have resurrected it..how cute.

But those two at least got to end before being replaced (almost two decades before in Byrne's case).

well there was some Skeleton guy who planned to destroy Bruce Wayne after No Man's Land. he even had a bunch of bombs placed around various Waynetech construction projects so that he could frame Bruce.
he appeared in the Secret Files and Origins that followed after NML and wasn't seen ever again.
not necessarily a bad thing ...

Starfire's baby. At the end of New Titans she's pregnant, and then afterwards the baby is NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN.

In Whedon's defence, bringing the costumes and stuff back was an editorial mandate he was forced to work with. Based on reading the first TPB, I thought he did okay with what he was handed.

I understand your point, Danno. But, in my eyes, there is no defense for Whedon, in any media....just my opinion....

No. This guy was hyped up in the letters pages of Batman for several months and was then introuced officially in the Secret Files and Origins special. He was supposed to be the big villain for the next year but that all got sidetracked by the Earthquake and No Man's Land. And when No Man's Land ended all the bat books got new writers so Moench never got a chance to use him.

He grew up, became so uber-hippy called Equinox, killed that guy Scarabus, and was never seen again.

Ah yes, accelerated aging of children in comic books. Never gets old, does it?
