For my money, the A-Team is the greatest iconic tv show of the 80s!

Melinda Culea was quite possibly my ultimate wank fantasy in my teen years so its hard to believe that she is 50 years old this year!

Yeah, I've noticed that if he's not into it, he'll replace any header with a fucking hockey pic....I think the Doctor Who pic that TTT headlined for me stayed up for MAYBE twenty minutes....

the jim aparo headline lasted 18!

pennie doesn't mean to disrespect -- by orders, he's just making images whenever he can, and i dont mind if they replace my images, be they aparo or a-team.

...tho it would be nice to get some updates in the dry days, like this past weekend, as opposed to a few moments after something recent, such as this a-team example.

that aside...

the a-team was good tv, and continued in the late 70s, early 80s trend of tv shows where renegade good guys would fight underground wars against super villains that existed all over north america -- typically cultivating in gun fights, massive exlosions, and some form of car rocketing through the air.

a-team, knight rider, dukes of hazard, airwolf, macgyver, etc

Ok so the A-Team,what were they about?

Each team member had a particular skill, and a particular personality trait to make them interesting!
By far BA & Murdoch were most peoples favourite characters because they were the most interesting.

While Peppard was the supposed star of the show,he was rarely ever the focal point for most fans,as the tv series launched Mr.T on the road to stardom,Peppard ended his long career as little more than a footnote.
Many people would quote his catchphrase, but few people had much interest in anything else!

Dirk Benedicts character was quite possibly the least interesting member of the team as he seemed to have very little to do in most episodes, with some pretty dull dialogue & very little skills (each of the other charcters had some sort of skill they relied on,but he seemed like a poor mans Hannibal).
More than likely he was only added to the show as eye candy for the ladies, much in the same way Melinda Culea was added for the guys.

Dwight Schultz sadly was never able to command the stardom afforded to Mr.T,despite his characters popularity, probably to do with his age being quite noticeable, and the fact he didnt have "movie star" good looks.
For my money,Murdoch was the high point of most shows, bolstered massively by his interaction with BA!

Mr.T of course was the undoubted star of the show, despite Peppards career & billing.
The show was Mr.T,pure & simple. If you talk to most people, the first thing they will mention is Mr.T!
Pure & simply his image & attitude stood out so much, that it overshadowed any other aspect of the show.
I defy you to talk to anyone about the show & find someone who doesnt start the conversation by mention Mr.T!

Melinda Culea served no other purpose than to provide eye candy as lets face it,she rarely did or said anything in any episode!
Peppard hated her,and thats why she was later replaced, which didnt exactly impact on the shows popularity, even if it did impact on teenage tissue sales!

The A-Team as a show was never anything more than bubblegum entertainment, but it did exactly what it set out to do.
I think of all the 80s action tv shows, this one was the most successful with adolescent males, with only Knight rider coming close!

One other star of the show was the van.
Who would of thought a GMC van could be classed as cool?
They creators used the same technique as the creators of Starsky & Hutch did in the 70s.
Take a fairly boring vehicle, and make it interesting without actually doing much to it!
Ok,so the engine was tuned (like the Torino),the suspension was jacked up (liek the Torino)& it had nice wheels (like the Torino),but the one thing that defined the van was the stripe that ran down one side, across the roof and down the other side (just like the Torino).
The van is definetely another example of iconic tv vehicles.

Weren't they talking about an A-Team movie years ago? I remember they had talked about recasting it with new actors (Paul Newman, Jim Carrey, etc., and redefining it for a motion picture.

If you were in charge of an A-Team movie, and were forced to recast it, who would you pick for each role?

Honestly, that was spur of the moment!

Why did I pick them?
Well Reynolds just seems a natural for the part, almost like it had been written for him.

Keaton can bring a little bit of Beetlejuice to Murdoch, plus I think he has the right look.

Nobody can play BA but Mr.T,and apart from a slight gut,he barely looks any different to the old days!

Campbell I chose as Face because I reckon he could really give the character some meaning!

Theron is one of my ultimate wank fantasies these days,so its only natural she replaces my teenage wank fantasy!

Ermey........well you tell me anyone who is better suited to play Decker!
