Back in 96 he signed what was believed to be a 10 year,$10,000,000 contract,so thankfully that contract ends next year.

for Big Slow's part, it's actually a really smart deal. he's got steady work and pay for a long time, and could retire if he does see it out.
it did occur to me the other day, he's now been wrestling for a decade. he made his debut on the 1995 edition of Halloween Havoc.

www.obsessedwithwrestling.com claims its 10 years and they are usually pretty good with info! Show is only a month younger than me,so he was 28 when he signed with WWE. That would mean,if he signed a 20 year contract,WWE expected him to still be wrestling when he was 48........doesnt sound right!

I've seen twenty years in multiple places, most recently in Scott Keith's latest book: Wrestling's One Ring Circus
It's not inconceivable. think about it. He went over in early 99, and the ratings wars were still well under way. WCW had made a habit of raiding talent, and Mahon was paranoid (remember, he originally signed Bret Hart to a twenty year deal in 96 as well!) and thus you get long term contracts for a lot of guys (although Mark Henry's has always baffled me). At the time Slow was one of the big names in WCW, and as a younger guy, could be viewed as a big asset in the future.
so it's not that crazy of an idea that he would get signed to such a long term deal by Mahon. plus, you have to remember that Mahon loves the big guys who can't really wrestle.

well, I just checked Keith's book again and it does say ten years. here's the description for Big Slow in the "cast of characters":
Signed to a ten year contract in 1999 during the heat of the wrestling wars, the result is a top push for him every other year to justify the money. Weight fluctuates between 350 and 500 pounds depending on his mood. Catchphrase: "Who's the sucker who signed me to a guaranteed contract, anyway?"
