The show opens with Jericho and Christian cutting off the music for their protest, marching around the ring with signs and chanting. All-frickin'-right.
These two are claiming that Stone Cold is unfair, and that he should go. They have signs that say "Stone Cold Joke" and everything.
Man, I love these guys. Every week, Jericho reminds me why he's my favourite wrestler.
Stone Cold comes out to stop them. Damn. He breaks it up with his general rambling. Jericho accuses Austin of stunning him for no good reason (which is true). Austin replies that Jericho assaulted him (which is not... and Austin is getting the face pops here?).
The whole thing ends with Austing making a match between Y2J and RVD, the winner to face Christian for the IC belt at Unforgiven.
The match, given it's these two guys, is actually kind of sloppy. We've seen better from both of them. Keep in mind, however, that a sloppy match with these two is still miles better than many of the "main eventers" at the top of their game. Christian runs in and decks them both with his belt, so Austin decides to make it a three-way match for the IC title at the PPV.
This match should be cool. They're three guys who are way over with the crowd, who can tell a great story in the ring, and mix visually cool high spots with solid mat work. Makes me wish I cared enough to pay for Unforgiven.
Okay, next it's an injured Spike Dudley versus some bland guy named Rob Conway. The match is a squash, Conway winning after one neckbreaker 'cause poor widdle Spikey is injured. The most interesting action happens on the outside, with the other two Dudleys chasing away La Resistance. Conway puts Spike through a table after the match.
This whole thing was just a drawn-out promo for their PPV match... they're playing up the Spike being injured angle, so the Dudleys will be the underdogs come Sunday. That could well mean they'll come away from the PPV with the titles, so it could be a good thing.
Goddamn, La Resistance suck. It's such a poorly thought out gimmick, and exploitative of the recent American anti-French sentiment. It's lowest common denominator marketing.
And Rob Conway is just fucking full.
Backstage. Eric receives a message telling him there's two half naked women in his office. Oooh... I wonder who it could be?! (Hint: Anyone who didn't see the punchline coming is a fucking moron. In fact, if you were surprised by the two ladies turning out to be Mae and Moolah, then you're stupider than the WWE writers. For shame.)
There's a match between Moolah and Victoria. God knows why. Randy Orton comes out and beats her up. God knows why. And his stunner (don't know what the hell else to call it) actually looked damn painful, with her body following her head moments after it went down.
Jesus fucking christ. That was ten minutes of my life that I will never see again. Fuck you WWE.
Somewhere in here there was a kina funny promo with the Hurricane and Rosey. Now, I love the Hurricane. I'll follow him into whatever weird tangent his promos and matches might wander into. Rosey I could've give two fucks about, but teaming him up with the funniest dude in the WWE might... just... work, damn it.
More thoughts soon.

I think you are pretty much right on everything. When you were talking about Jericho getting a stunner, I thought you were incorrect though Mr.Jericho called Austin an S.O.B. which in my book means he should of gotten a stuff right then and there but Austin had to play it off.
I do understand where you are coming from though, I remember before Test became a heel Stacy would flirt with Stiener and when Test got up set he was the bad guy? Riiiight. I am enjoying or should I say ehjoyed the Gail sleeping with Bichoff. That was good stuff

Glad I didn't watch it this week.
The Mae Young/Moolah joke wasn't even funny to begin with, why they insist on bringing it back every couple of months is beyond all rational thought. Which isn't a surprise given this is McMahon and company we're talking about here...

Is the tag teambelt on the line at Unforgiven? I was under the impression it was a six man tag match which would mean the titles aint on the line.
What is being said about Y2J/Austin is just typical of WWE at the moment with people getting face & heel pops for the wrong reason.
Austin was not psyically assaulted as pointed out by Danny, yet he gets a face pop for his actions!
Also as Johhny said,Test was getting heel pops for being pissed off that his girlfriend was flirting with another guy!
Now to address the La Resistance thing that Danny mentioned, this is also a false heel pop. Why is it that being patriotic if you are not American, makes you a heel? We`ve seen it with Canadians time & time again,we`ve seen it with Brits & now with the French. Unfortunately as a big demographic of WWE viewers are ignorant bigots with iq`s smaller than Robs penis, its accepted that any non Americans showing that they are proud of their country equates to them being heels.
Still, what else can you expect from a company that puts Vince,Shane,Steph & JR in the ring, while they let true talent sit on the sidelines twiddling their thumbs!

Hold on a minute, now. No one's IQ can be THAT small!
But I do agree that wrestling isn't very smart these days. Ring psychology is all but out the window with the younger generation. There's no more storytelling in the ring. The WWE "Attitude" is nothing but toliet humor and bad jokes. I wish I owned my own fucking promotion.

Yeah. Most of the hardcore viewers, a la ECW fans, don't watch anymore.
Here's my idea. We start our own promotion. Nowhereman can be the color commentary man. Grimm is the heel ref. Rob is the guy that gets squashed every week. Velo is his manager. The rest we can figure out the rest as we go along.

This is what I've said about how these things are always done all wrong. What they should have these guys do is interfere with any showing of American patriotism(such as interrupting or protesting the Star Spangled Banner) then turning around and demanding that their national anthem be played before their matches. That would be heelish.
I like the idea of being a jobber's manager, by the way. Lots of good comedic opportunities there...

Just letting you guys know that I can't finish the review this week. Apologies for anyone who gives a damn. My internet connection at home is down, and I'm posting this from a friend's computer. Hopefully I'll have it all sorted out soon. See you then.
Short note: You can't hype a fucking contract signing as your main event.
"This week on Raw... Booker T goes to the toilet! BE THERE!"

JR: This Robbie Kamphausen is showing a lot of spunk. He's taking a Slobberknocking and keeps getting up. What do you think, Nowhereman?
Nowhereman: He's a cunt.
JR: You can't say that on TV!
Nowhereman: You're a cunt too. You're all fucking cunts.

These are, largely, problems with American society as much as with wrestling. Since becoming "Stone Cold" in mid 96, Austin's popularity grew and grew despite the fact that was the biggest heel in the promotion. (Not an isolated incident by any means, but one of the more memorable.) Once he was made a face, he became a "redneck icon" and since then, has mostly been hugely popular (with the possible exception of his short lived heel turn in 01. Though I think most of his fans wanted to cheer him even then, they just didn't care for the storyline.) He's pretty much always gonna get a face pop from WWE crowds.
Test's turn, however, has actually been really well done, and was set up long in advance, with him drooling over Torrie's Playboy spread and trying to hook up with her backstage. He also slowly became a little more of an asshole each week, thus setting up his full on heel turn. He was set up as the bad guy in this one long in advance. One of the things Raw has gotten right lately. Test actually has a personality now, and is becoming a decent heel. He still needs a new name and a few actual wrestling moves, however.
