... quite impressed.

In my opinion, I think it would make a good TV series.

I know the usual route is for comics to be turned into movies, but only a decently adapted TV series would do justice to the world Spider lives in (not to mention Spider himself.)

Thoughts?

I liked Transmet. Even though the middle bit is kinda meh. I miss that book.

I enjoyed it.

Robin Williams was interested in producing at one point, and wanted to play Royce, the editor. Patrick Stewart is also extremely interested in playing Spider.

Isn't Stewart a little old to play Spider?

For some reason I pictured Spider as about thirty. But I haven't read a lot of the series.

Yeah, but he's ruined his body with shitloads of drugs. Druggies age a lot faster than less experimental people.

Maybe, but they don't draw him looking as old as Stewart looks in real life.

Disregarding what you say, I'm gonna say he looks enough like him to make it work. Plus Patrick Stewart is a mega Spider fan. Plus he already has proved himself a great actor for representing comic characters. Plus he's, like, god.

Many comic book characters look different in the books then they do in movies or television. In the Sin City comics, Nancy was blonde and southern. In the movie, she was Jessica Alba and hot. I think that for the power of Stewart, they'd fudge the age a little bit.

That was the pre-Brokeback Mountain world, before Hollywood gayed us all up with their gay notions and such.

An HBO series, starring Patrick Stewart and Robin Williams would rule, with Ellis as exec script editor. But, the storyline is far too complex to crunch down into a two hour movie. Look what happened to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...

Stewart's a fine actor, but he's pushing 66. Also he's too refined to be Spider.
Spider needs to be the guy who opens the door naked pointing a bowel disrupter at someone.
Spider needs to jump up on tables and kick someone in the face.

HA! You obviously know little about Patrick Stewart the man. He cusses like a sailor and apparently gets annoyed by shit he can't control (just like Spider). Despite his age, I think he's a perfect match for the character.

Neither do the guys who get the shit kicked out by him.

"What do you know about rabbits? Rabbits are eating away at my house and I've done fuck all to them!" Patrick Stewart to Warren Ellis during dinner at some posh restaurant.

"Patrick Stewart comes from that generation of actors that are completely mad. . .his dream role is one where he can run around naked and screaming. . ." Warren Ellis, describing Stewart.
