The Diamonds in the Rough are no more. Elix Skipper and David Young were released from their TNA contracts last week. I don't know about Skipper but Young had requested his release several weeks ago. Neither had been used in some time. Simon Diamond, who managed the team, will be staying on with the company as an agent.

see, I was just bitching to Doc about this last week. it amazes me that they continually replay the moment from XXX vs. AMW where Skipper does the headscissors off the top of the cage, yet they cannot seem to find anything to do with the guy.

Yeah, it's a shame. They really should've done some kinda feud between Daniels and Skipper, where Skipper was shown to be jealous of Daniels success, even though they were both cornerstones of XXX.

TNA has released A-1 (Alastair Ralphs), formerly of Team Canada, from his contract.

Norman Smiley was removed from the TNA website's roster page this past week. Norman Smiley will still probably be used every now and then, but on a per appearance basis in an enhancement role.

And it sounds like they are aiming to replace them with more Tomko level talent!

The current plan in TNA is to bring in Doug Basham and Damaja (formerly known as Danny Basham) as a new heel tag team to be managed by Christy Hemme to feud with the Voodoo Kin Mafia.

That's OK, I'm sure Mahon will maximize his potential!

Like what? The man's a spotmonkey, and not that good a one either. Outside of walking cages, what can he actually do?

The Bashams, on the other hand, are a talented tag team with some strong personality. My thinking at the moment is that TNA would stand out if they emphasised tag team wrestling, and that means bringing in guys like the Bashams, plus maybe the Briscoes or Irish Airborne from the indy scene.

Other than provide entertaining X-Division matches and sell others moves very well?

Yeah, he sucked...

Now, I don't mind the Basham's. They're able to sell other performers, and because Vince is notorious for grounding heavy weight wrestlers (he believes in solid mat wrestling, and old school in-ring "storytelling" perfected by guys like Harley Race, Rick Steamboat, Bret Hart, etc) we might not have seen everything that they have to offer yet.

So, to me, it's a wait and see thing.

For me, it was always his opponent who made it entertaining. He was just like 'oh! that's a cool spot' but he never provided the meat of the match, as far as I was concerned. And good selling's hardly unusual in TNA.

I agree that he probably shouldn't have been dropped, just to clarify. I just don't think he was being used in all that wrong of a role.

You can never go wrong with a "Kid" avatar, from the hip-hop duo, "Kind N Play"!
