i'll agree that they were likely annoying cunts, and i'll agree that i like (the thought of) punching strangers in the throat. but, you're ignoring the overruling judgement factor in this scenario: how were their tits?

star wars is on all the time, sure. but that doesn't mean they give a fuck. hell, law and order is on every 20 minutes here, and i've never seen an episode. i also don't think its a stretch to think the current teenage girl population isn't enthralled by star wars lore -- "ooh, jedi is on at 3!" just doesn't strike me as something they'd say, from your description.

i think you're looking for logic in their thought process. william shatner is probably not captain kirk, but rather "the priceline guy." johnny depp is teeniebop fodder. and the fact that he hits so nicely in a scifi list should prove they're clearly not of the star wars mind set.

Last time I wanted to punch someone is when Mutants & Masterminds (a comic book superhero rpg) came out with the Wild Cards settings, based on the novel series and featuring art by Brian Bolland and Tom Mandrake among others. Someone on the M&M boards was complaining about the art. I was "Dude, Bolland and Mandrake!" and he was "... Who?" You do NOT deserve to play any kind of comic rpg after saying something like that.

I've had similar situations. One of the recent ones was some chick in her early 20s not knowing who Jon Stewart was.

Ok, so I am queuing up to get into a rock gig last night, and there are these two young girls in front of me (probably in their late teens).
Now at first, I am kinda cool to them being there, as the gig was a bunch of old 80s hair bands, so it impresses me that they even know who these bands are at their age.

Now, like most girls, they just cannot stop fucking talking, and they have annoying middle class accents.
They seemed like daddy bought them a pony, but they are rebelling by being all "rock" n shit.
So, I'm tolerating their annoying gibbering because they are at least talking about old school rock for most of it.
A few things they said, proved they didnt know half as much as they thought they knew, but I was still tolerating them.....just.

Finally, one of them starts talking about some show they watched about the top 50 (maybe 20, I forget) sexiest men in sci-fi.

She started bemoaning the fact that Shatner was at number two, and that apparently Depp was on the list much further down!

Now this isnt what almost caused me to snap, as personal choice will always make people question any sort of list like this.
No, what really got me was when she said who was at number one.
Apparently it was Harrison Ford, but she questioned this as she could not remember a single sc-fi movie that he was in, and her friend agreed that he had never been in a sci-fi film.

I'm sorry, but how can someone accept Depp being in the list, but cannot remember two of the biggest sci-fi movies of all time?

I could sorta forgive her for not knowing about Blade Runner, but how the fuck can anyone not remember the Star Wars films?

Yeah, two of the crazies that come in to my branch on a regular basis. I deal with them...unfortunately...and consider them strange because all they do is rant about Obama/McCain/Bush. They have no clue what they're really talking about and are clearly starved for attention. When I get them they can go on for hours. I have delightful visions of me punching them in the throats. One after the other, repeatedly.
