Here is what they report: This December, the covers of all DC Universe titles will follow a unifying theme, incorporating the series' title into the cover art. As previously announced during their editorial presentation at San Diego Comic Con International, the DCU titles will feature "iconic" images of the heroes, while the stories contained in the issues will be stand alone one shots designed to be jumping on points for new or returning readers. Tentatively, the event is named "Headliners of the DC Universe." In early 2002, DC Comics will attempt to draw in more readers with Batman: The 10 Cent Adventure. Stay tuned for more information on that.

well... the batman cover looks really cool, ill say that much. but... is this really the best idea to generate new readers? "look kids, the title of the book is actually the buildings!" ... couldnt this just have been a cool thing to do, and not promoted as a way to generate interest?

I don't know...It seemed to work for Will Eisner... Actually, this is a good idea, if DC could find a way to get the product into the hands of the people it's aiming it at...Namely people who aren't reading the comics already. Basically, they're preachin' to the choir here. Sure, maybe sales might spike here or there on a book that has a smaller following, but if DC doesn't get these books out into the grubby little hands of people who don't come into comic books stores in the first place, what will they accomplish? In January, sales will go back to normal and nobody will care anymore...

i was hoping for a little more creativity in the "blend the title into the cover" motif. ww's was prolly the coolest one. jla's just looked way too forced. and, i think i prefer the b/w batman cover to the colored one.
