Forget Affleck for a minute. Let's look at the other cast members.
I've seen Jennifer Garner on Alias. She should do a good job portraying Elektra...Assuming the script didn't screw up Elektra's characterization.
Also, what does everyone think of Michael Clarke Duncan landing the role of Kingpin?

I have nothing against Afleck in the role. I can't really imagine a good actor for the role.

I think Michael Clarke Duncan will be a great Kingpin. Can't wait to see him in this film. I have been pleased with his performace in everything I've seen him in.

My only real regret is that the film is rated 'R'. My little brother was really eager to see this movie, and there is no way he will get to now. Oh well. My and my friends plan on seeing the movie as soon as it open up.

I believe the Dude makes a Chasing Amy reference.

This movie is gonna suck.

They need to take Bendis' comic scripts and make DD an hourlong weekly TV drama. That would kick ass.

Just about every part of me thinks this movie will suck.

I'm not Affleck's biggest fan, but I do think he looks the part. I'm concerned as to whether or not he can do Matt Murdock, though.

I think Duncan will be great as Kingpin, if I had any reason to go see the movie, he's it.

I like Colin Farrell, but it looks like they've royally screwed Bullseye's character(that....thing on his forehead looks ridiculous, I'm starting to think he'd be better off wearing the costume from the comics).

Jennifer Garner is very pretty(though somewhat horse-faced), and it's clear she can do the physical part of the role, but not having seen Alias I question her acting ability. She seemed completely out of place in "Catch Me If You Can".

You took the words out of my mouth, Animal

I agree on all counts

Another good call by Grimm too! A weekly serius using someone who knows DD would be a hell of alot better than a hollwood-type-big-screen-appearence

Matt Damon is Matt Murdock...
He is a better actor aswell...
Otherwise get an unknow, but Ben did write the TPB introduction to teh Kevin Smith arc.

Bullseye looks dumb, kingpin looks cool...I think I will cringe when I see this movie.
Here's to hoping I'm pleasantly surprised...

[yuh huh]

It's PG-13, but last I heard when it comes out on DVD there's going to be an R-rated version.

Yay, someone else who thinks like me!

Btw, whats the problem with Bullseye's comic costume - I think it's pretty good and far better then a trenchcoat!

I can't help the feeling that this film was thrown together. There's been a big build up to Hulk and Spiderman when they got the go ahead - then out of nowhere, DD is announced and finished in a few months!

Ben Affleck, who plays the title role in the upcoming Daredevil film, defended to reporters the decision to make the Marvel Comics character very dark in the film. Revealing a few film spoilers, Affleck discussed director/writer Mark Steven Johnson's decision to have Daredevil stand by while a criminal dies and to take prescription drugs and to pull out one of his own teeth after a particularly violent encounter.

Allowing a villain to die "was a real controversial issue," Affleck said at a press conference. "I know that the really hardcore fans, myself included—and I think probably even Marvel—felt that was stepping over a line in a way. We went back and forth over that many, many times. That's the one way it kind of deviates from the heart of the book. Daredevil never killed anybody [in the comics]. He does let Bullseye drop in the comic book, and in this film we throw him out the window. That's very consistent with the comic. But he was not as vengeful as we portrayed him in the beginning."

But, Affleck added, the death was necessary to establish Daredevil/Matt Murdock's dark state of mind at the film's outset. "For the sake of giving the character an arc—letting him go from a guy who is seeking ultimate vengeance to a guy who understands the difference between that and justice and understands about mercy and compassion, largely because of the love of this woman—we kept it in there," he said.

Murdock is also shown taking prescription drugs in the movie. "I thought that was emblematic in a way in which this has its own tone," said Affleck, who has had his own public brushes with addiction. "It's a little grittier, a little bit more realistic. It represented the fact that in this comic-book, superhero universe, when a guy gets hit or is stabbed, he bleeds, and there are consequences to it. ... I think that speaks to the violence issue, that there are consequences to violence." Daredevil opens Feb. 14.

Okay, I went out and bought the CD. Pretty good. I don't listen to any of the artists on a regular basis, but I get the feeling that if you like their other stuff you would like this. And the Daredevil Theme (Blind Justice Remix) is VERY good.
