You didn't just state a fact though. You said Obama would be sending them. Why did you say that?

Did I say he would send them? I didn;t, but even if I had it would not be racist to assume they would do his bidding, if they are his allies.

where did I say he would send them? I said his friends. Maybe sit at least 5 feet away from Countdown With Keith Olberman before you try to read the board.

I rarely watch that show, it's too partisan for my tastes.

Why would you say he has friends that he would send out in such a way? (you didn't use the word friends but just to move things along I'll go along)

welcome back Jason!

Unless that's not EST, I was asleep at the time. Wasn't me.

Yeah, you've said a lot of racist stuff lately. And no, I don't say that because you oppose Obama (many people here do and I don't cite them). I say that because you've been going out of your way to marginalize black people as simple-minded followers who can't look beyond race.

Given that the Democrat Party, including Obama, is playing up to black Americans the idea that they should vote for Obama because of his race, how is it racist for BSAMS to comment on that?

Case in point: I just read an interview with Michelle Obama where she spoke about how important this election was in sending a message to black kids that, at long last, their vote truly counted because of the fact that they could elect a black person president.

It sounds to me like she-and other prominent democrats-are the ones urging black Americans to "follow a crowd" and vote for Obama because he's black.

Obviously, I think you're wrong. I believe that the problem lies in you, not me.

I don't think that you can see the racism. You've been set into this idea that unless the person is screaming the N-word, wearing a white sheet, or something else blatant it's not racism. You've been pushed into the notion that it's always just another example of someone pulling the race card or seeing something that isn't there.

But when you generalize a race of people and assign unwarranted traits, that's the definition of racism. When you say that a person is acting a certain way because of his or her race, that's racism.

Sorry, but it is.

what about when a party believes they can manipulate a particular group of people solely by pandering to their commonly-held paradigm of race?

Then you're a racist under your own definition. You're assuming that BSAMS [and, to a lesser extent myself] are espousing these opinions because of our race. According to you, that's racism.

Maybe you're not getting it.

Commenting on the idea that the Democrats are playing up to black Americans and saying that black people are only voting emotionally are two different things. In fact, the assumption that the first would lead up to the second is the part that's racist.

If you want to go there, then both parties would be equally guilty.

Shall we discuss the people who come to the McCain and Palin rallies and talk about Obama being a Muslim or untrustworthy? Those ideas came from somewhere.

Perhaps I misunderstood your point here. Please clarify. If you were not speaking of my race with this quote what, exactly, were you referring to?

As for your other point, re: the parties manipulating people because of their race or prejudices, even if we concede inter alia, that the parties do that, they can only do so because that mentality exists.

If, as you imply, that mentality exists, it was legitimate, not racist, for BSAMS to make reference to it.

even if he were one, islam is a belief system, not a 'race' or even an ethnicity. and anyone can be called untrustworthy, particularly if there are enough questionable decisions (that we already know of) in one's past. just because some individuals want to read more meaning into those points than is warranted doesn't invalidate those points.

And a belief system is really nothing more than a system of values and philosophy of how to live life, both of which would seem to be valid points of review when discussing how a candidate might attempt to lead us.

That was Barack Obama, is he racist?

 Quote:
"Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people," Wright said. "Hillary would never know that.

"Hillary ain't never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person."

That was Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for 20 years and someone he has called in his own book a spiritual mentor.

It seems a bit self serving to say that mentioning race factors by the side you've decided to vote for is not racist, but if anyone in opposition mentions it, they are racist. We are all humans, yet only one side of the argument is allowed to discuss race? Your elite attitude doesn't surprise me considering the candidate you worship, it doesnt sicken me any less though.

btw it looks like this liberal scorched earth policy of calling anyone who wont vote for Obama a racist, is backfiring:

Murtha's hold on House seat slips

 Quote:
Two veteran warriors battling to represent the 12th Congressional District appear locked in the closest race in the district in years.

Democratic Rep. John Murtha leads retired Army Lt. Col. William Russell by a little more than 4 percentage points, within the Susquehanna Poll's 4.9-point margin of error. The poll of 400 likely voters was conducted for the Tribune-Review on Tuesday, amid uproar over Murtha's statement that some of his constituents are racist.

Stanley Shemanski, 67, a retired meat cutter who lives in Apollo, said he's undecided about the congressional race. He doesn't know much about Russell, but he's upset with Murtha's comment that racism in the district could hurt Democrat Barack Obama's chances.

"I didn't like that at all. He shouldn't have said it," Shemanski said.

Most of all, the national economy concerns him. "I'm retired, but my daughter, she works for the bank, and I'm worried about that."

Yet, poll participant Melissa Stoltz, 38, of Johnstown said she is backing Murtha because she likes his political views.

"He has the experience, and he is a former Marine. I was a Marine," said Stoltz, a caseworker. "Murtha's done a good job. I think he's really stuck up for your basic, every-run-of-the-day, normal person."

Murtha, 76, a decorated Vietnam combat veteran, apologized for the racism remark, saying he meant to say that skin color is a factor in the battle for the presidency between Obama and Republican John McCain. Trying to add context to his remarks, Murtha later said many in Western Pennsylvania were "rednecks" several years ago.

Russell, 46, a Republican who served in the Iraq war, jumped on the remarks. McCain, in a campaign stop Tuesday in Moon, said he "could not disagree with those critics more," without mentioning Murtha by name.

About 54 percent of voters among those polled say it's time for someone else to represent them in Congress. About 35 percent say Murtha deserves to be re-elected.

"The most important variable here is that a decisive majority say it's time for a new person," said Jim Lee, president of Susquehanna Polling and Research. He attributed some of the unhappiness with Murtha to the congressman's recent comments.

It's tough to know how big a factor that is, though, because little attention had been paid to the race, Lee said. Political analysts didn't expect Murtha to be vulnerable.

Murtha's last few challengers didn't come close to toppling him. He won by more than 20 percentage points in 2006 against Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey. He was unopposed in 2004.

This year, according to the poll, it's different.

"This is clearly a winnable race for Russell," Lee said.

Russell's campaign welcomed the poll results.

"In the beginning, we were facing an impossible task. A little later on, we were looking way up the mountain. Now, it looks like the summit is in sight," said Steve Clark, Russell's spokesman.

"We not only disagree with the poll, but we find its results ridiculous," said Matthew Mazonkey, a spokesman for Murtha's campaign. "Congressman Murtha has a clear record of working tirelessly for Western Pennsylvania, and his efforts have created tens of thousands of local jobs."

Obama leads McCain by about 5 percentage points in Murtha's district, which stretches from Cambria County southwest through Washington County, according to the poll. Even if Obama maintains that lead, it's unlikely his coattails would be much help to Murtha, who has to win on his own, Lee said.

btw it looks like this liberal scorched earth policy of calling anyone who wont vote for Obama a racist, is backfiring:

When did the liberals say this, btw? And please don't answer by bringing up one guy who said it once. Tell me when all the liberals you talk about all got together and said that anyone who doesn't vote for Barack Obama is a racist.

Thanks.

To me Islam is something that we would have to be stupid to not be weary of. For thousands of years now Islam has sought the destruction of Christianity and Judaism. I doubt that many Muslim-Americans feel that way but nevertheless I personally will always be weary of them. I know I am not alone either.

With that said Jason was going to vote for Obama no matter what.....not just beacause he is Black. He is more in tune with what he believes in and that should be respected. He always votes Democrat so why should this be any different. I give MEM a hard time because he hated Obama and now loves him.....but again that is what he wants and should be respected.

Nobody has "said" it but a lot of people sure are doing it. I have seen regular everyday folk here in NJ doing it. The fucking UPS guy said something to me the other day at my house (no tip for him this christmas) when he asked why I had a McCain sign in my yard....was I rascist?

If the economy improves down the road I am not against rolling back some taxes to the Clinton levels by the way. But if you do what Obama wants to some small businesses and large corporations we will have the worst 4 years in the history of this country. I have a feeling if Obama wins he is not going to raise taxes on anyone because he knows it will destroy the country right now. I hope I'm right about that.

It is said constantly. Perkins, I cannot seriously debate a topic with you if you are going to feign ignorance.

I never apologized for anything.

Reading is fundamental.

And so is backing up what you say.

You apologized, for not backing up your statements. Good enough for me.
