the honeymoon period for the press can't last more than a year, right? ill throw you 18 months, for the race and youth coverage. if he's a fuck up a year plus from now, the attacky-stories will start attacky-ing, cuz that'll make a better story at the time.
I question that.
The press has a lot invested in seeing that the "First Black President" succeeds and they don't want to appear "racist." Couple that with their general preference for left of center policy and candidates and there's a good chance that the "attack" stories won't materialize.
Further, as mentioned before, I think the press will just scapegoat old white male Joe Biden and focus on his gaffes, sort of the way they did with Quayle under Bush 41.
That's my concern. It can be said that W. Bush had similar majorities in the House and Congress. But he had a media that despised him, mocked, undermined and ridiculed him from day one.
The difference now is that while Obama will have a significant near-filibuster-proof Democrat majority in both the House and Congress to pass the legislation he desires, Obama
also has a press that partisanly favors him and refuses to do their jobs and examine Obama.
The media is the last firewall, against a president who has the most radical liberal agenda in U.S. history.
A Barack Hussein Obama who has surrounded himself for decades with marxists [Frank Marshall Davis], racists [Rev. Jeremiah Wright], domestic terrorists [William Ayers] and others who favor an agenda that cripples America. The media obsesses over how much Sarah Palin's campaign wardrobe cost, but never once examined the undisputed and treasonous flaws of Barack Obama.
It's clear that no matter how badly Obama messes up the country, the media will just spin it as problems Obama inherited from the Republicans.
Meanwhile the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and larger mortgage and economic meltdown is clearly orchestrated by Barney Frank, Charles Schumer and President-elect Barack Obama (as measured by Obama being the second largest recipient of Fannie Mae donations, second only to Christopher Dodd), the very same people who will remain in power and continue to determine economic policy, along with president-elect Obama. The firewall is gone, and Obama is poised to destroy America, with the media's blessing.
