Reports out of England that George Clooney is in talks to play Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four movie are not true, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige told The Continuum.

"We have not started casting yet," Feige told The Continuum.

Fantastic Four is set up at 20th Century Fox. Peyton Reed, whose credits include Bring It On, came aboard in April as writer/director.

"Peyton is working hard on the story," Feige said.

It's quite likely there will be a new Fantastic Four animated series to accompany the film, which is tentatively targeted for a 2003 release.

Clooney, who starred in 1997's Batman & Robin, has also been rumored to be returning for the next Batman live-action film, but Warner Bros. has not given a clear indication where it is taking the Batman franchise.

On Wednesday, Variety reported that Warner Bros. is looking to develop a movie that would team Batman and Superman. The script is being written by Andrew Kevin Walker, who is also writing a Silver Surfer script, with Wolfgang Petersen attached to direct.

Petersen directed Clooney in last year's The Perfect Storm. He has also been attached as a producer to the Whiteout movie, based on the comic book by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber.

Just give the man with graying hair another chance to bag a blonde babe, and he'll do the pick.

Ugh, didn't they learn from the last time they tried to make a Fantastic Four movie?

Btw, one good thing I can say about George Clooney is that "From Dusk til Dawn" rocked.

I think they did learn from the last time they made an FF film. I'm sure the new movie'll have a much higher budget, and Roger Coreman will have nothing to do with it...

Clooney was fine as Batman. The movie suffered from poor script and direction, not acting. I'm sick of people badmouthing him.

...I know no one badmouted him in this thread, but I had to vent...

The dynamic Danny Duo hath spoken. Call them the Toejam and Earl of the Message Boards.

As for Batman and Robin? Well, I will give you a synopsis of why it sucked. Joel Schumaker's vision was to make the series more mass-marketed or appealing. Lost sight of the original core audience, and hence the flavor of Batman. Also, he went with the campy colors and humor of the TV show vs. what Tim Burton had established. You can see it in the crooked angles, flashy colors, big actors making appearances as villains.

Arnold S. is a huge name, but not the kind of actor to play Mr. Freeze. My pic would have been Jeremy Irons, for his voice, in a suit similar to that from the animated series. If Jeremy didn't want it, then Patrick Stewart. It was an overly flambuoyant film and Batgirl was a cheesy unnecessary addition. Not vital to the plot.

Toejam and Earl are cool, so...

I heard B&R was made kinda childish because of people writing letters stating that they want a movie they can take their kids to without disturbing them by having Christopher Walken get barbecued by an leatherbound cat lady.
