and that's a fuckin great move by marvel. and I really don't want bnd to end. I want that to be the status quo. the marriage is over, we've moved on, and honestly the writers never really could capture their marriage, and the single spidey stories have been much better than the last 20 years of married spiderman. Lets be honest: the stress of your spouse being a super hero, never knowing every day if they'd live or die, would wear on any person. And that's ignoring the obvious emotional negligence that would occur in this relationship.

MJ: Pete, can you stay home tonight and hold me? I'm feeling down.

Peter: I cannot! For with great power comes great responsibility! My uncle died 10 years ago cuz I was a stupid 15 year old kid and now I have to give up my life and happiness for one mistake! Never mind theres a gajillion super hero's in New York! Hell, there's so many we have to register now! But this city needs Spiderman!

MJ: Oh...ok. I'll just mix gin and tonics and pop some Prozac. Go fight your old nemesis, the van.

Eventually they'd have to face the fact that regardless of what they told themselves it's too difficult to live with. MJ and Pete would have been divorced by now if Mephisto didn't get to punch a wall to annul their marriage.
