I always like seeing the alternate costumes in stories like this and Elseworlds stuff since they'll never have the balls to do something drastic with Superman himself.
Also, since when is Death an emotion? "Little Billy's feeling a little death today. Maybe we should go out for ice cream. That'll brighten his mood."

There's an article in Newsarama about the angry lolcat lantern. Apparently it was a one time joke by the artist but Johns liked it so he added him to the plot (to the artist's embarassment).

Wizard did a mock up for an Superman revamp or "Ultimate Superman" a few years ago and the costume there was one of the better redesigns I've seen. The only quibble I have with it is that the collar on the tunic is too high. It means that Clark couldn't wear the uniform under his work clothes for that classic " shirt ripping" pose.

I remember liking a lot of the redesigns in that issue. I think some design company did it just because. The Flash one looked kinda bad, though.

Yeah, the Flash design sucked and I didn't care for the faceplate and lack of white eye lenses in the Batman suit, but otherwise they were all pretty good:

just quick for the purpose of color treatment likely far too drastic for any real update/upgrade consideration, but i prefer the look. i like keeping the s-shield essentially unchanged, rather than the sylized looks; simply because its just so goddamn iconic at this point, i think it should be unchangeable. however, incorporating it into the other portions of the suit a bit more gives the illusion that its new. the red connects all limbs, wrapping over the tricep, then back around to the front and over the hands. threw in some gloves -- probably the boldest of changes. but makes sense since superman's fingerprints would be somewhat similar to clark's. but, really, the treatment was designed to make sense of the boots. it allows the character to keep the red boots, (i.e; red color in that area) without them having to be as silly as "boots" - same for the red around the midsection without needing outer-undies; still the most ridiculous concept in comics. also the same idea used for the yellow around the midsection -- just non-functional color to keep the suit resembling the modern day design (and something, as a fan, i think is very sorely missing from the wizard design) whenever i worked up images of a batsuit upgrade, i always like the idea that everything on his suit is entirely functional. superman's is just the opposite - its stylistic design. meant to be just a symbol for people to recognize and inspiring hope. i think this has a few more kryptonian touches to it, as well -- borrowing from some of the designs we've seen kryptonians wear (i.e; the color "bar" down the front and cape in the back resembling the kryptonian... poncho?)

That's a pretty good design. Especially from someone not in the business.

Well since black is the absence of color, I'm guessing Black Lanterns are absent of emotions. And dead people don't have emotions and stuff. So they're like black.

You, on the other hand, keep your choice limited to your Michael Clarke Duncans and Ving Rhames. Some days, it's Jeanna Brooks, others, it's Gianna Michaels. Most days for Doc, it's a combination of Chris Tucker, Mos Def, and...Knurkel.

But you did, Doc. Over and over again, insatiably. What can I say? Some days I want my Jeanna Brooks. Others I want my Gianna Michaels. You have gone the way of the G-man retort, Joe. It's sad, really.

just quick for the purpose of color treatment likely far too drastic for any real update/upgrade consideration, but i prefer the look. i like keeping the s-shield essentially unchanged, rather than the sylized looks; simply because its just so goddamn iconic at this point, i think it should be unchangeable. however, incorporating it into the other portions of the suit a bit more gives the illusion that its new. the red connects all limbs, wrapping over the tricep, then back around to the front and over the hands. threw in some gloves -- probably the boldest of changes. but makes sense since superman's fingerprints would be somewhat similar to clark's. but, really, the treatment was designed to make sense of the boots. it allows the character to keep the red boots, (i.e; red color in that area) without them having to be as silly as "boots" - same for the red around the midsection without needing outer-undies; still the most ridiculous concept in comics. also the same idea used for the yellow around the midsection -- just non-functional color to keep the suit resembling the modern day design (and something, as a fan, i think is very sorely missing from the wizard design) whenever i worked up images of a batsuit upgrade, i always like the idea that everything on his suit is entirely functional. superman's is just the opposite - its stylistic design. meant to be just a symbol for people to recognize and inspiring hope. i think this has a few more kryptonian touches to it, as well -- borrowing from some of the designs we've seen kryptonians wear (i.e; the color "bar" down the front and cape in the back resembling the kryptonian... poncho?) cool I agree. That's a pretty good design. Especially from someone not in the business. And gay.

I'm still placing the bet that this is 52 Earth 2 Superman and not Kal-L from the original multiverse. I think it was established by the JSA Earth 2 arc that they're pretty much the same thing. I thought it was a different Kal-L much the same that the new Earth 2 had its own Power Girl. Oh, right. That was the whole point of the arc, now that I think about. Heh. I guess we'll find out when they show him crawling out of his grave.

When you feed me a crap line, you get a crap line back. Like the previous one. You show me where I posted a Youtube clip or quoted the AP wire. You show me where I made some comment about liberals or conservatives. You fail, Doc. Twice.
