Putting it in my terms.
I dont particulary like rex or Snarf.
I dont respect rex or Snarf.
I can tolerate rex for many reasons though.

As bitter and moany as he is, he has never whined about his life, and actually doesnt care if people like him or not.
At times, rex can even be quite funny, or engage in sensible discussions.
Hell, he is even been known to mock himself.

Snarf is the complete opposite.
A whiny little bitch who thinks the world should be nicer to him, yet at the same time, feels that he is better than everyone else because he has a firm grasp of grammar and diction.


It doesnt surprise me at all that he would see Beardgay as "innocent", and that we attacked him for nothing.
The guy, like Snarf, always tried to paint himself as a nice guy, but sooner or later his true traits began to show.
Like Snarf, he wanted the posters to conform to his way, saying that Uschi should be banned, and topics that he didnt like should be deleted or edited.

Uschi isnt everyones fave person, just as I'm not or rex isnt, but one of the keys to this board has always been "do what you want, say what you want".
Those that cant handle that, end up digging themselves bigger and bigger holes.
Dave will be the first to tell you that this attitude doesnt help, and once
you realise that, it will all be good.

My dislike for Snarf goes back a long way (I'm sure people noticed) as I think I had him pegged a lot quicker than a lot of people, but here and now, I think everyone, save a few twats, are starting to see him for what he truly is.

Unlike most people, I dont think we will get a goodbye post from Snarf as he has nowhere else to go!

I have a slightly different take.

I think Beardguy was a harmless guy whom Uschi picked on more than she should have (though that's water under the bridge now; BG chose to leave; nobody forced him out). And that makes Snarf trying to compare himself to BG all the more pathetic.

BG, unlike Snarf, never tried to make himself out to be better than the rest of us. He never tried to act like he was some deep thinker when, like Snarf, he was actually a simplistic dumbass. BG was just a guy who liked to post more stuff than some posters wanted to read.

No, if anything, Snarf is working overtime to turn himself into "whomod lite." Not so much because of the politics (thought there's some of that). But because Snarf, like whomod, alternates between thinking he's the genius of the board and some sort of victim of the rest of us.

Whomod called the cops on rex. Snarf started screaming that his constitutional rights were being violated because BSAMS called him a dumbass. Either way, it's a guy taking things WAAAAY too seriously.

Beardy was far from completely innocent. Sure he painted himself with that brush but he was just as human as everybody else. BG was a his way was always the better way type of guy,even if he had no clue what he was talking about half the time.

Regarding the analysis by several here of Beardguy and Snarf, I disagree on both.

Beardguy was a really nice guy, and that kindness and appreciation for things came out in all his posts. Not everything he posted was interesting to me, but the spirit behind it made it more interesting to me.
I liked having him here.
And the people who drove him away, I regarded well before he was driven off as rude, vulgar, cynical and unpleasant assholes. The type who enjoy ruining others' happiness.
I'd gladly take a hundred thousand Beardguys in exchange for any one of you. but just through sheer unimaginative harassment, you made him want to leave. And even in that you actually lost, because as Beardguy said to me himself privately, he could tolerate your pussy shit forever, he just chose to leave and not waste his time and energy with your collective pettiness. Key operative word: he CHOSE to leave, none of you idiots drove him away.
Regarding the vindictive prying into his personal life: so what if he lied and said his x-boyfriend is dead. I'm sympathetic to the fact that it was difficult breakup for him, and in essence, the guy is dead to Beardguy, and is out of Beardguy's life. I see it as a difficult chapter in his life, and that's how he was able to deal with it. Which still doesn't make Beardguy any less of a nice guy. And still ten times better a human being than most of you.

Snarf, despite my occasionally crossing paths with him on the RKMB boards over the last 8 years, I know very little about. We mostly don't spend time in the same forums. But I generally like him, despite his occasional sniping at me a few times in political topics, where I guess we differed strongly in our beliefs on those issues. Snarf too, I see as a kind person, and like any of us has a day where he feels shot down and defeated.
Everyone here has felt the same emotions and defeats that Snarf has, he just made the mistake of posting a topic about "I'm gonna die alone and unloved" or something like that. And you guys, I think often playfully, sometimes in a mean way, ribbed him about it. I didn't participate in it, but to a degree I thought it was funny. But when some of you (particularly Rex) tried to kick Snarf when he was down and really hurt him with it, that I really have contempt for.
But again, I don't see the subjective distaste you guys have for Snarf as having any real basis. What you label Snarf for "whining" about, you have absolutely no problem with when Nowhereman posts a thread about being suspended and later fired from his job.
Because, as Snarf said above, Nowhereman is one of the guys you regard as "cool".
And Snarf is a guy you regard as not cool, and target for maximum harassment.
You would never go for Nowhereman the way you go after Snarf. Their two topics are arguably the same mindset, frustration over a loss, but you spin Snarf's as self-pity and Nowhereman's as self-deprecating.

And finally, you say Snarf is putting down Rex to try and raise his own status on the RKMB "cool" scale. Whereas the truth is Rex is doing exactly that to Snarf, and you defend Rex while ganging up on Snarf. And Snarf and I are now targets for reasons that are completely subjective on your parts, and therefore subject to your pettiness and attacks.

Again, I really don't give a fuck at this point. Just pointing out the inconsistencies.

the forum is based on rolling with the punches. if you question or fight the punches, it doesn't work. if you then throw your own punches, without rolling with others, you've become hypocritical. we've seen many come and go that were unable to handle it - it's not an easy methodology, but it is a simple one.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see where Snarf has committed any major sins of self-pity. I've seen him be as self-deprecating as he has been arguably self-pitying.

For the most part, everyone here has been harassed at one point or another (or an alternate way to look at it, everyone has been teased, played with and tested.) Sometimes it's hard to tell whether it's banter, or a serious answer is truly expected.
