Regarding the analysis by several here of Beardguy and Snarf, I disagree on both.
Beardguy was a really nice guy, and that kindness and appreciation for things came out in all his posts. Not everything he posted was interesting to me, but the spirit behind it made it more interesting to me. I liked having him here. And the people who drove him away, I regarded well before he was driven off as rude, vulgar, cynical and unpleasant assholes. The type who enjoy ruining others' happiness. I'd gladly take a hundred thousand Beardguys in exchange for any one of you. but just through sheer unimaginative harassment, you made him want to leave. And even in that you actually lost, because as Beardguy said to me himself privately, he could tolerate your pussy shit forever, he just chose to leave and not waste his time and energy with your collective pettiness. Key operative word: he CHOSE to leave, none of you idiots drove him away. Regarding the vindictive prying into his personal life: so what if he lied and said his x-boyfriend is dead. I'm sympathetic to the fact that it was difficult breakup for him, and in essence, the guy is dead to Beardguy, and is out of Beardguy's life. I see it as a difficult chapter in his life, and that's how he was able to deal with it. Which still doesn't make Beardguy any less of a nice guy. And still ten times better a human being than most of you.
Snarf, despite my occasionally crossing paths with him on the RKMB boards over the last 8 years, I know very little about. We mostly don't spend time in the same forums. But I generally like him, despite his occasional sniping at me a few times in political topics, where I guess we differed strongly in our beliefs on those issues. Snarf too, I see as a kind person, and like any of us has a day where he feels shot down and defeated. Everyone here has felt the same emotions and defeats that Snarf has, he just made the mistake of posting a topic about "I'm gonna die alone and unloved" or something like that. And you guys, I think often playfully, sometimes in a mean way, ribbed him about it. I didn't participate in it, but to a degree I thought it was funny. But when some of you (particularly Rex) tried to kick Snarf when he was down and really hurt him with it, that I really have contempt for. But again, I don't see the subjective distaste you guys have for Snarf as having any real basis. What you label Snarf for "whining" about, you have absolutely no problem with when Nowhereman posts a thread about being suspended and later fired from his job. Because, as Snarf said above, Nowhereman is one of the guys you regard as "cool". And Snarf is a guy you regard as not cool, and target for maximum harassment. You would never go for Nowhereman the way you go after Snarf. Their two topics are arguably the same mindset, frustration over a loss, but you spin Snarf's as self-pity and Nowhereman's as self-deprecating.
And finally, you say Snarf is putting down Rex to try and raise his own status on the RKMB "cool" scale. Whereas the truth is Rex is doing exactly that to Snarf, and you defend Rex while ganging up on Snarf. And Snarf and I are now targets for reasons that are completely subjective on your parts, and therefore subject to your pettiness and attacks.
Again, I really don't give a fuck at this point. Just pointing out the inconsistencies.
