The parents and Laurie are watching this all unfold in a comic book which, I take it to mean from their reactions to SBP, they know is a real earth out there somewhere and that their son/boyfriend went to said Earth and started killing people. Further, it is the same E-Prime that was destroyed in COIE or so it seems or Johns didn't think that about a new earth prime necessarily leading to the creation of another SBP on that earth or he did and that is what he will use when he wants to bring him back...I don't know.
