Katherine Jackson, the mother of Michael Jackson, will be the legal guardian of the late pop singer’s two oldest children, while their biological mother, Deborah Rowe, will have visitation rights under a new settlement agreement announced Thursday. Michael JacksonLawyers for Mrs. Jackson and Ms. Rowe said that the custody agreement did not provide any financial compensation for Ms. Rowe, the singer’s former wife.
The agreement comes as the homicide investigation around Mr. Jackson’s death gains momentum and as lawyers for the Jackson family and for trustees named in the pop singer’s will prepare to go to court on Monday to fight over an estate that could be worth more than $1 billion.
