That sounds so dirty when you put it like that, Wondy. I'm sure you did that on purpose, you kinky bitch.

Here's what I quoted on page 2, from over 5 years ago:

So once again, while I acknowledge the Moore and Miller mid-1980s material as some of the best written material, then and now, I clearly label it as dark work that I enjoy with reservations, and SPECIFICALLY LIST what are the gold-standard works that I love and re-read and go back to far more often than the Moore and Miller material.

Yes. I know that. I know all that. I even acknowledged it in my previous post.

Excuse me, at what point did I say that you hold Moore and Miller's 80's work as the ultimate beat-all storytelling?

I said that you LIKED that stuff, Dave.

"over-the-top cynical elements you allege me to praise". When did I say you praised those elements, Dave? All I did was mention that they were present in stories that you like.

I KNOW you like these works with reservations, Wondy-cakes. I got that the first time you said it. In fact, that's my whole point. The fact that you acknowledge the dark elements in these comics and STILL consider them good (YES, THERE ARE OTHER BETTER COMICS. You already said that.) should serve as evidence that it IS possible to be "dark" and "good" at the same time. Mind you, I said "POSSIBLE". I'm not saying every single comic to use the word "fuck" is a masterpiece, because saying that would be just as stupid as thinking that every comic that offends your precious little sensibilities is crap.

Once again Moore and Miller THEMSELVES acknowledge that their work was dark, and that their work plunged the industry into a Dark Age. As the interview I quoted earlier makes clear.

Yes! I remember that. I've even mentioned this fact myself two hundred million times (I have counted them). I am very aware that, in the 90's, both Moore and Miller stated repeatedly that they regretted the influence their work had in the comics of the present. The present being the 1990s. (We are in the year 2009, in case you've lost track.) Moore has since stopped reading comics altogether (rendering his opinion on "current comics" irrelevant), while Miller has gone quite insane and began publishing that masterpiece of offensiveness that is called All-Star Bat-Man and Robin. Having seen Batgirl call someone a cuntmuncher, I doubt very much that Miller feels offended by The Ultimates.

As well as many other highly regarded comics creators who see the ongoing Dark Age as a decline in the industry, as expressed in interviews with Alex Toth, Paul Smith, Joe Kubert, Keith Giffen, and on and on.

I haven't read any recent interviews with Toth or Kubert, but both Smith and Giffen (especially Giffen) seemed pretty enthusiastic about current comics the last time I read from them. How can they loathe the Dark Age and still enjoy things that are being done right now? Simple: the Dark Age is over. We took what we could use from it and moved on. You would know this if you weren't such a close-minded whiny fucking bitch.

(Oh, I needed to directly insult you at some point during the post for contractual reasons. Nothing personal, I'm sure you understand.)
