wasn't bruce shown being not-dead like a few pages after he was killed? in caveman times or something? so, beyond the "no, they're not really gonna kill batman" obvious, we knew he'd be returning.
dick has also already had a brief run as batman, so i never understood why this one was so new and exciting. prodigal son was like a 4 or 5 issue arc back in ... 98 maybe? right after the knightfall/end saga.
that said, i haven't read any of this stuff, so my comments are more worthless than they normally are. but i did read the morrison interview, and i still think he has the best take on batman, as a whole, of any writer/editor.
