Ok, so they showed no interest in keeping the continuity between the two scenes?

What lazy assholes.

Shouldn't they be exact? Especially hair and wardrobe.

Its a different time line. The bomb reset everything in 1977 and now everything has changed.

The first hour was shown in Hawaii the other night and its already on the torrent sites and youtube. The quality isn't great but its watchable.

To be precise it looks like we have an "Earth One/Earth Two" scenario (for lack of better term).

Earth One: "Our" Lost universe. Nothing's really changed.

Earth Two: "Parallel" Lost universe, as seen in the clip. The island was nuked to the bottom of the sea and the plane doesn't crash. This means, among other things: Locke can't walk, Rose still has cancer, Kate is probably going to prison, Charlie is also going to prison because they caught him on the plan with heroin, etc. Interesting, however, how in the parallel universe it looks as if only Jack and Locke might be better off from here on in.

As rex mentioned, the question now is will the two universes be combined...or was what we saw tonight sort of a "It's a Wonderful Life" type story, a chance to show us (on a one-time basis) what was happening on "Earth Two"?

There was a commercial every five minutes after the first twenty.

That's why I DVR it. I typically wait about 20-30 minutes into the show and then start watching it, fast forwarding through the commercials. I end up finishing at about the same time but miss commercials and have an extra 20 minutes to do something else.

I think they load the first hour with commercials so the second hour isn't as interrupted.

This premiere had the usual effect on my. I'm confused as hell but I want more. It wasn't as good as last seasons premiere though.

I fucking hated parts.

When did Sawyer totally loose his balls? He used to be Han now he is Anakin.

The being that rules the island comes back from the dead to tell you to bring your mortally wounded dude to a magic temple to get him all fixed up real good, why don't you bring the dead chick?

When the Earl McGraw Jr translated and asked Jack if he was sure and that there would be consequences, why didn't he at least ask "What consequences?"


I can only hope that means Pai-Mei gets to fuck Jack's mouth. It's not gay if it brings your friend back from the dead.

Why didn't Marshall McFuckles have back up waiting for him right off the plane?

They are fucking US Marshalls, can't they get past some airport security?

Sawyer spent three years (in the past) living as a Dharma dude with Juliet. Basically, he got older and domesticated



Because she was dead, not wounded. And because they didn't know why Jacob told Hurley to do that. Jacob just said (paraphrase) "if you want to save your friend take him to that cave Jin went to," not "...and there's a magic fountain that brings people back to life."




Because that's Jack. He's never once that I can recall thought to ask questions like that. And he's broken up with guilt about fucking things up and getting Sayid shot and Juliet killed. So he's desperately looking for anything to fix his screw-up.



Keep your sick fantasies to yourself, mister.





The only thing I can surmise is that his backup was supposed to be the guys who took Charlie off the plane. And even that isn't much of an answer.



Yeah. It was nice to get an actual answer confirming something long suspected, ie, that smokey, the ghosts and evil dude were all the same guy.

He didn't go granola. He was LaFlure: Security Dude.



I was thinking this well before they arrived at the temple. With all the crazy ass shit that has happened to them on the island.

If I had thought that in hindsight I would be right there with you, but it wouldn't be an unreasonable to think that she could be saved by "mystic island forces.

It was funny to see Frogurt and Arzt.

I was surprised to see Boone as he is on the CW Vampire show.

So he was the Dharma version of head mall cop...living with his hot "wife" into a little cottage on a tropical island. That's a far cry from who he was and, arguably, something that would mellow a guy out after three years.

I was looking forward to this but it was only so so. Way to many commercials to begin with. Juliet's death was really well done but besides seeing it last season I also saw it in last week's rerun and then in the recap special right before the season starter and then another two times during the show. Literally overkill. I'll miss the character and hope she shows up later. I know the actress is on V but maybe some short scenes could be possible? Also missed Boone's sister. The earth 2 version as G-man puts it, was pretty boring and it would have been at least nice seeing Shannan. Guess it was the smoke monster that she actually saw that lead to her getting shot?

Yeah. Like you I'll miss the character but there was no reason to keep showing that when we all knew she died.



I think that was kind of the point: a semblance of normalcy. Assuming we see Earth 2 again, I think the illusion may crumble a bit.



At this point, unless the dead person was speaking to Hurley or Miles, I'm going to assume it was smokey.

I think that's Jacob in Sayid's body now. Your friend is gone.

Or dead, I can't remember what he said.

I think it's cool that they're showing a parallel universe. First the clips moved backwards in time, then they moved forward, and now they move sideways. Neat. The "it worked" means there's some way they'll become aware of the alternate reality. And obviously Earth-2 Jack remembers some of Earth-1. Desmond being in the plane was kind of a stretch, but since his disappereance was so abrupt I think there's probably something else to that. Being immune to time travel paradoxes, maybe he fully remembers Earth-1.

I read at another site that Sun and Jin were referred to a non-married couple. Anyone else catch that? Does that mean Sun really doesn't speak English? I think out of all the characters he's would be the saddest to see revert back to how she was in season one.

Unless you count Rose and Bernard, given that she was dying of cancer.

Boone's sister not being in the plane looks like another change to the continuity, unless I'm missing something there.

I think she didn't want to come back to the show or she couldn't be there for this episode. She might be back later.

No. I think it is a change. But I was specifically speaking of people who would definitely be worse off on "Earth 2." Rose was dying of cancer before she crashed on the island. No island=pending death. Dead Rose=broken hearted Bernard. Therefore, I suggested that they had the most to lose in the revised continuity.

That's what I was thinking, but they could've just said she was in the bathroom then. They went out of their way to point out a change to the continuity BEFORE the plane crashed.

Since Christians body might have been left in Australia I think everyone on the flight is going to eventually have a reason to get back there for some reason. That could be Boone's reason. I also think Jacob changed everyone's reasons for being on the flight and that's why she decided to stay in Australia.

Could be. I think that a big piece of this year's plot is going to involve merging Earths 1 and 2 and using another flight over the island site as part of that makes sense.

Kate episode tonight. I hope this means they're getting all the crappy episodes out of the way.

I'm already getting sick of the fanfic happy ending parts of this season.

That was great and totally unexpected. I kept waiting for Dennis to show up.

Yeah. This being the last season I think introducing new ideas was a mistake when there are so many existing topics that merit further examination: Jacob, Evil Locke/Smokie, the history of the Black Rock, Widmore's efforts to reclaim the island, Adam and Eve, what the numbers mean and what, exactly, is the damn island, just to name a few.

He was on the show in season two or three. It was before I got into Its Always Sunny so I didn't recognize him.
