The second season of the TV show (and the movie) had guest shots by Frank Zappa.

The movie was written over a weekend whilst RayBert, Jack Nicholson (yes, The Joker himself), and the Monkees all sat around their hotel room stoned off their asses talking into a tape recorder.

The song "Cuddly Toy" was about a Hell's Angels gangbang. Micky's song "Mommy and Daddy" asked the younger listeners to ask their parents such wonderful questions as Who really Killed JFK, Does Mommy get off on all her pills, why doesn't that soldier care who he kills and would it matter if the bullet went through their heads and it was their blood spilling on the floor.

Yeah, it was The Monkees.
