So the final scene of Lost is going to consist of Jack and Locke, sitting on the beach, discussing the minutae of shirt buttons?

Michael was getting all choked up there at the end and I kept expecting him to go "It's just that... you gotta understand, Hurley... it's just that they... they... THEY TOO--" and then his head explodes into ectoplasm.

"that creepy whispering all this time... is that you guys who are dead and trapped on this purgatory island?"

"oh, that? yeah."

I'm sorry, that was terrible.

I hated it.

I always figured it was just the others. It was a pretty simple rational explanation.

It was alot better than everybody hears g-g-g-g-ghosts!

You hadn't even heard the whispers in three fucking seasons.

They are really suffering from trying to bring together all their loose plot lines.

It's like the final season of Battlestar. It was terrible. I really enjoyed that show but they blew it at the finish.

LOST is doing the same thing. I'd rather they just leave some shit unexplained and just concentrate on telling a compelling story.

I'm starting to forget why I cared for any of these characters for as long as I did.

Whispers of the others and/or the Smoke Monster sneaking by and/or underground both make a hell of a lot more sense.

while stealing her baby, i believe ben told rousseau something like "and bitch, if you hear whispers, you'd better run like a mother fucker" (paraphrased and sam jackson'ed). i thought that indicated it was the special others powers.

i also remember a scene (not exactly sure when and who) where folks from our favorite oceanic crew were treking through the jungle and heard the creepy whispers. they quickly dove behind some trees and saw a the legs of people slowly walking by. some were children (i think you could see a teddy bear?) indicating maybe they were the stolen kids from a few years back. again, i thought that just meant the whispers were otherized.

and even as closely as a few episodes ago, i think the whispering sound effects come into play whenever unlocke sneaks up on people. "hello, ben"; "hello, james"; "hello, hugo" etc.

maybe the story is the dead ghosty people "warning" whomever is around of danger approaching? like scattering birds who spot a predator?

That's probably it. Because otherwise, it makes no sense whatsoever.

I tried to watch "Everybody Loves Hugo" again last night. Made it to when Libby called Hurley her soul mate. This might be the worst episode of the season.

No. The Kate episode was, as usual, the worst. This one had some flaws but it also moved the story forward in some significant ways, had a couple of good jokes (primarily the Seinfeld and Springsteen ones), showed us more of kick-ass Jedi master Desmond and, best of all, had that scene where Iliana blowed up good.

Sorry for having my own opinion, pedoman.

It's okay, rex. I know you have special expertise with the whole "fat loser with no job, no girlfriend and an unnatural closeness to his mother" lifestyle. I should have have guessed you'd hold the Hurley eps to a higher standard than someone who doesn't have your life experiences would.

the running theory i have with my pal at work is that they nuked sun's voice so we no longer had to hear variations of "whut. about. my. hust.bandt.?"

producers just figure they could squash that move-nowhere storyline for a few episodes.

Earth 2 Sun looked at herself in the mirror oddly right before Silver Age Sun was hit in the head. I think the language thing might be like a strange connection between the dimensions. Soon Sun 2 will start talking English.

I was only four hours off on my prediction.

Which prediction was that?

I think Locke was lying when he said he took Christian's form.
1. Why would he lead Candidates to water and help Jacob by keeping them alive.
2. Christian appeared off island on the frieghter and in Jack's waiting room in LA which the Smoke monster obviously can't do.
3. In that early episode Christian lead Jack to the caves and then dissappeared. This goes against Smokey's MO as seen in the Richard episode and with other characters. Why not talk to Jack and say "hey this weird island has a big bad mean old man keeping you from being rescued." At that point in time Jack had just been there a few days and would be easily manipulated.

I don't think it's an oversight in the writing, more that he was lying to Jack to try and win him over.

theoretically, it was to keep john locke alive, whom he could later trick and take over. and, because locke was a candidate, that'd give smokey access to jacob.



the appearance in the hospital coulda been jack's drugginess at the time. the appearance to michael on the freighter... i dunno about that one.




i think "ghosting" as your just-died father is a little easier to accept (in a giant "relatively speaking" context) than noting there are giant, earth-altering plans in place that jack is to be a pawn of.



mebbe. but, then again, smokey did know that christian's ghost lead jack to the water at the caves. if it wasn't him, he at least got that info from recently-deceased-and-ghosting christian.

yeah....the show is done filming so I'm afraid if reading anything about the show until its over. My interest in the show isn't that much anymore due to this season but I still don't want it spoiled.

i've skimmed through most. it doesn't appear to reveal anything we couldn't already know -- decidedly different than revealing anything we don't already know.
