I recall, over the last 20 years that socialized medicine has been proposed in the U.S., that the advantage of Canada's socialized system (i.e., rationed care) has been its proximity to the U.S. system, where Canadians can come across the border and pay out-of-pocket for private care in the U.S.

No doubt the lack of that option after 2013 (if Obamacare is not de-funded by the coming Republican majority, in a last alternative to stop Obamacare) will cause further decline in the Canadian system.
