We won't be leaving anytime soon now that it's public a trillion dollars in minerals are under their land. If we do leave they will be invaded.
But Steele's comments were idiotic, even the republicans are backing away from him. Steele overall has been a real idiot, even by republican standards, during his time in power. I think they rushed to put a black guy in charge to counter Obama but they should've picked more carefully.
I'm not saying that most of what he said wasn't completely stupid. I just agree with him that this isn't the fight we
should be having. I don't think there can be a real central government in Afghanistan. So, we will be there forever if that is an objective. We may have had a chance back in '03, but Bush blew it by turning to his family's vendetta with Saddam. Now, we are just bogged down wasting money on a corrupt government and having our boys die for very unclear goals and "conditions."
