Getting fired from one job wouldn't prevent Snarf from getting another job. That's a different situation than having a drug possession arrest and graffiti/vandalism arrest, and being stigmatized with a criminal record. As I recall Snarf hated the job he was doing (Bed Bath & Beyond?) and had a job, but just found it humiliating and wanted something better.
