Okay....it's the day after...and I survived.
Now, I guess I'll just have to wait until the next time I get to meet the boys...

Still not sure what to think.

This was my "Saturday"...
Well, I made it through the day...what turned out to be an all day event (even though the boys were gone by 9pm; left with their grandpa)...and I'm not quite sure what to think. I met everyone there (at Sandy & Tim's place) and I even beat Pat and the boys by about 5-10 minutes and then everyone else slowly trickled in after that. The boys are mini-versions of Pat. As soon as I saw them come through the door I could see that.
Pat came in, gave me a little kiss "hello" and then introduced the boys to me. I got a "hi" from Tyler as he looked up from his Gameboy Advance and after Pat tapped Conner on his head, he tipped his head sideways and gave me a "hi" as he looked up from his Gameboy.
And that was the first and last time that either of them spoke to me the whole 5 hours they were there.
Now that's not to say that they avoided me, because I would consider avoidance to be something along the lines of: stay as far away from me as possible and don't even look at me. That never happened, so I'm going to say that went okay.
Tyler is a closer mini-version of Pat in the looks & mannerisms department...and he'll be 10 on May 17th (he all but broadcasted this when Tim asked him how old he was)...and as the older brother, of course, he picks on Conner constantly. Of course, Conner does his share of picking on Tyler too.
Conner's features are slightly different, but you can still see Pat in that cute little face of his. All of the cornballyness in Pat...is in Conner. From what Pat tells me, Conner is on medication so he can be somewhat "normal" and not jumping off the walls and terrorizing other people.
According to Sandy and Sheila...Conner was "acting up" a bit. "Who is he today?" and "That's not how he is normally" were the two most common sentences to come from Sandy and Sheila regarding Conner's behavior yesterday.
My guess...he was acting up because of me. I'm the new person. I'm the new "female" person in the group. And...they've seen their dad kiss me.
I'll say this much; both of them certainly vie for Pat's attention. I'm not sure if that's a competitive thing, or something that was just for "my benefit."
Personally, I don't know what's normal when it comes to their behavior. All I know is they didn't take one look at me, scream or turn and run away from me. SO...I'll take that as a good thing and just hope that things go well from here on out.
Later that night...after making up the boys Easter baskets...while we were relaxing and just cuddling, I did talk with Pat about my meeting the boys. I told him I was glad I survived the day (he asked me if I thought that I actually wouldn't and I told him "yes".). He laughed and asked me why, so I told him. "Meeting the kids of someone you're dating is not like meeting the kids of someone who's just a friend. I was semi-freaked out about it. I had these thoughts of them looking at me, screaming and running the other way." Pat just chuckled, rubbed my back and said, "Aww...do you feel better now?" I did, but I'm sure I'll be thinking about the day's events for awhile.
And this...is was my "Sunday"...
I got to see the boys again sooner than I thought...Pat called and asked me to come over. So, I spent the better part of the day and evening over there with the boys, Pat, Sheila and Sheila's boyfriend. Since they were on their own turff, I hardly saw the boys at all. They were in and out of the house (between the rain) or playing upstairs with friends.
Pat, Sheila and I hid the boys plastic Easter Eggs in the backyard and watched them race around trying to find them all before the rain came back. That didn't happen since we all got a little wet, but it was still fun. I helped out Conner a little when he was "so close yet so far" from a cluster of eggs that I had hidden. I got a 1/2 smile/grin out of him when he found three eggs so that was very nice for me and maybe, just maybe, he's not too "eww, yuck" about me.
Later in the evening, Tyler did hang around a bit later in the evening (when I looked at him and smiled he didn't look away or get a scowl on his face or anything like that) and did notice that, even though I was there, things were still pretty normal as far as nightly routines went. So maybe, that's one good step to show them that when I'm around, things won't be changing so drastically that they lose. At least I hope that's how they'll eventually see things.

Yeah, I'm sure... I did think I heard one of Tyler's friends say something to him and heard Tyler reply, "No they're not!" to which an "Are too!" and a "Are not!" soon followed...and then some laughing. Hmm...were all you boys like this when you were 9? ![[eh?]](images/icons/confused.gif)

I think kids today are a bit more sophisticated than when I was a kid. They get exposed to a lot more stuff, through video games and the internet.
Do you think they were speculating about the veracity of your most prominent features? Cheeky gits.
I think they sound like they're treating you with respect, but sussing you out because you're an unknown quantity. It sounds like Pat has brought them up pretty well.
I had some advice for you which I've just deleted: I've never been in this situation, and think you're best off playing it by ear.

Bonka, I know I was like that before I was 9. My mom told me I used to wink and stick my tongue out to ladies when they passed by the shopping cart.
...I knew I was a ladies' man by the time I was 7. All the 11 year-old "women" wanted me.

Actually, I'm not sure. Pat and I were sitting on the couch watching TV when I "heard" that little bit of conversation. So...who knows what it could possibly be. I mean...they 9-ish...and boys...it could be anything...but I just had that feeling that it was related to me. Ya know what I mean?

So yeah...that's where I'm at right now.
Lot's to think about...especially since I think I'm past the point of "no return" in the major feelings department.

The "Big *L*" is making itself quite clear to me over the course of the past three days.
It's just a matter of how to tell him without freaking him out...

That has always made me nervous. I never want to say it without being 100% sure. Last time (a few years ago), my BF at the time said it several weeks before I did. I just didn't want to say it just because he was. But when I did say it he was SO excited!! Ahhh...memories...

I've only used the "L" word with one other person and then, I probably shouldn't have...but that's neither here nor there...
I'll say it when I ready I guess. :)

Well...I've now met the entire Horkan clan (who live in Michigan)...aside from the sister-in-laws and maybe a nephew & neice or two...
Christ...and I was worried about his sisters not liking me. I'm more intimidated by his brothers...since I'm sure there will be some kind of weird looks/questions coming Pat's way now that they both have met me.
Good Lord...

"Horkan"? For Gobsakes, don't take this man's name if you marry him! You'd be:
--The "Horkan" woman --The "whore can" --"horkan" things up --"horkan" do it better than me?
Please, please!, be careful!

Horkan was Conan's evil twin brother. He wore a helmet with spiky horns, and had a goatee.

I invited Pat and the boys to my aunt's for a Memorial Day Weekend BBQ (free food and beer/liquor)... He asked how many people will be there (I don't know yet, but it could be anywhere from 8 to 12 or more)...so he sounds kinda hesitant. (But I've met his entire family already.) But he and the boys are going to be alone that weekend...I really hope he doesn't feel like he's not wanted. Damn... Why do you men have to be so weird?

What's the issue here? He's a bit funny about his kids being mobbed by your relatives? Sounds like a reasonable concern to me.

Well, it's been changed (the BBQ) to my home...and after hearing that, he had no problem saying yes. So, I'll chalk that one up to being weirded out because of it being at another location other than my home. SO...he'll be coming over with the boys and I told him that they're free to bring over whatever toys (but not their bikes) they want to play with since my yard (front and back) are extremely large and the probability of them hitting anything close to the house is very nill. The front yard is about 250x20-25 feet and the backyard, I don't know exactly/aproximately how large it is, but it's large. ![[wink]](images/icons/wink.gif) But when Pat and I talked about it last night, we both kind of declared that the boys will be bored in no-time flat. SO...this coming Sunday...Pat will be meeting my family...(as will the boys). I guess this is the big test to see if he still wants to see me. God knows...my uncles take some getting used to.

They're pretty normal I guess...except for my Uncle Mark...he asked my 1st boyfriend, "So, did you get any yet?" just to see what he'd say.
I know if he had given my Uncle a "wrong answer" he would've beat his ass.

Quit feeling like a dork already. That's an order! It's nothing to lose sleep over...oh...wait a minute. You DID, didn't you? I'm just messin' with ya. I'm just glad it was a good thing. It's not like I haven't thought about it. It's just not the type of thing you like to throw out there. I know it was tough for you to do. I thought it was kind of cute seeing how it was bugging you so much though. Like I said, if that's the only thing you have to worry about, I must be doing something right. I hope you feel more relieved now. Now you can think about other things.
Give me a buzz if you get really bored. Remember...I love you, too!
