I don't expect anything less than an apology from a Japanese businessman. Humility is their cultural staple regardless of the particulars of the scenario. They had to shut down PSN, and therefore there is an inconvenience.
The Sony execs are lying. Gotcha.

I am curious though where in those statements it's said that they always knew they hadn't done enough to make their servers secure?
It was the part that I put bold tags around.
Here, I'll post it again, and you'll bury your head in the sand again.
But he and other executives acknowledged that not enough had been done in security precautions They didn't give us a time frame of when they figured out they fucked up, but they did admit they fucked up. Nothing about how M$ could fuck up, that's your line.
Obviously if someone gets hacked, it means more security is required. But how does that mean they didn't use as much security as they though was required?
They either though(t) wrong initially, or cut corners. Laziness or incompetence, take your pick.
But more to the point: is this your way of saying Microsoft wouldn't apologize? Or that, assuming they were hacked, they simply wouldn't need to?
I really can't say how M$ would react, I don't get into wild speculation like you do. This is a thread about Sony's failure to protect their customers' personal information. Maybe you can start a "What If M$ was guilty just like Sony is and stuff?" thread, Marvel style, to crack your pretend mystery.
