http://www.mania.com/reeves-to-lead-akira_article_129841.html It seems that Keanu Reeves may be the one to lead Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' live-action adaptation of Akira, reports the Hollywood Reporter. While younger names such as Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and James McAvoy have been mentioned in recent reports regarding their upcoming feature film take of Katsuhiro Otomo's classic manga, the trade says there has been a meeting between Reeves and the director Albert Hughes. Albert will direct, based on a screenplay by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Gary Whitta and Steve Kloves.
If the deal gets done, Reeves would potentially play the role of Kaneda, a member of a biker gang in a cyberpunk dystopia.
Plot Concept: "Akira" is based on anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo's six-volume graphic novel masterwork. Previously adapted into a popular 1988 anime film, this version will take place in "New Manhattan," a metropolis that was rebuilt after being destroyed 31 years ago. The famous motorcycle will also definitely be a part of the film.
